Patterson-UTI, Red Mountain Energy release statements following Oklahoma disaster

HOUSTON -- Drilling contractor Patterson-UTI Energy and operator Red Mountain Energy have released statements addressing Monday's tragic explosion that took place at the site of a drilling operation in Oklahoma, resulting in the deaths of five workers. 

The statement from Patterson-UTI reads:

"All of us at Patterson-UTI are mourning those who lost their lives following the incident in Pittsburg County, Okla.

There is nothing more important to us than the safety of our employees and others we partner with in the field. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all those affected and their loved ones.

We are actively investigating the cause of the tragedy so that we can learn from it and protect against it happening again.

To the first responders, emergency personnel, authorities and well control experts, thank you for your tremendous courage and efforts to secure the scene.

And to the locals that dropped everything to offer support to those affected, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts."

The Red Mountain Energy statement reads:

"Our hearts are heavy for those affected by the tragic oilfield accident in Pittsburg County. As a company, we ask everyone to please join us in offering prayers for those who are missing and injured.

To the first responders who answered the call to render medical care and secure the well site, we say thank you. Our top priority is the people who have been affected and the safety of everyone involved."
