Gazprom Neft begins production at Otdalennaya fields in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug
MOSCOW -- Gazpromneft-Noyabrskneftegaz, a subsidiary of Gazprom Neft, has completed the drilling and testing of its first production well at the Zapadno-Chatylkinskoye field. The total length of the constructed well is 4.14 km, including a horizontal section of 730 m. The Zapadno-Chatylkinskoye field forms part of a remote group of deposits, bringing together various assets of Gazprom Neft, in the southern part of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District.
The initial production rate during testing of the first production well at the West-Chatylkinskoye field reached more than 500 tonnes per day of anhydrous low-sulphur oil. Once construction of transport infrastructure is complete, the daily production rate of new wells could increase to as much as 700 tonnes. The position and occurrence of hydrocarbons at the Zapadno-Chatylskinskoye deposit are similar to those at Chatylkinskoye field, already under development by Gazpromneft-Noyabrskneftegaz, characterized by high daily inflows and a low rate of natural depletion.
Vadim Yakovlev, first deputy CEO, Gazprom Neft, commented: “The operational drilling program at the Zapadno-Chatylkinskoye field will continue throughout 2018. We plan to build eight production wells here, ensuring production of up to 500,000 tonnes of oil per year. According to our calculations, peak production across the entire Otdalennaya group of deposits will be reached in 2023–2026, at approximately two million tonnes of oil per year.”
