Volga-Dnepr Airlines has safely completed 88 cargo flights carrying more than 6,000 t of equipment in 103 days to supply the Exxon Mobil-operated PNG LNG project. The airline’s AN-124-100 aircraft operated all of the flights from Port Moresby airport to the PNG LNG project’s newly-constructed Komo airfield. The aircraft carried equipment for the project’s Hides gas conditioning plant in the highlands of Papua New Guinea.


ExxonMobil’s Point Thomson project successfully completed a number of infrastructure milestones during the summer. Alaska Frontier Constructors were involved in completing the site airstrip and finishing construction of a service pier. A permanent camp, providing meals and housing to project workers, was built and is now fully operational. Point Thomson’s telecommunications and power systems are also fully operational. Completion of a condensate export pipeline—linking Point Thomson to the trans-Alaska pipeline system—is expected this winter.


BP announced that it, and its partners, have now awarded over £1 billion ($1.6 billion) in contracts to UK-based companies, to provide services and equipment for the major re-development of Schiehallion and Loyal oil fields to the west of Shetland. The project to redevelop the fields involves two main elements: a brand new FPSO vessel, and a major upgrade of the subsea infrastructure that will lie on the seabed. The latest in a series of awards has been made to OneSubsea which has been awarded a £65-million ($104.2-million) contract to manufacture subsea trees.


Apache Corporation has agreed to sell certain oil and gas producing properties in Canada, in two separate transactions with a combined value of $112 million. Apache will sell its Hatton, St. Lina, Marten Hills, Snipe Lake, Valhalla, and a portion of its Hawkeye producing properties. These are primarily dry gas developments in Saskatchewan and Alberta, and comprise approximately 4,000 operated and 1,300 non-operated wells that averaged daily production of 38 MMcfg and 750 bpd of liquids, net to Apache, during second-quarter 2013.


Murphy Oil Corporation announced an update to production guidance for third-quarter 2013. Quarterly worldwide production volumes are expected to be 198,000 boed with a similar level of sales volumes during this period. This is up from previous guidance of 190,000 boed. Production for the full year remains unchanged at 203,000 boed. The adjustment in production volume for the third quarter is primarily attributed to a shift in the timing of the planned shutdown of the Kikeh FPSO vessel for the tie-in of the new Siakap North-Petai  field, offshore Malaysia.


Halliburton’s Landmark Software and Services business line has acquired UReason Solution Environment (USE) for real-time analytics. The USE software platform, combined with Landmark’s existing drilling software, will enable operators to capture, process and interpret high-speed data that will help them to better understand the cause and effect of drilling system behaviors.


TEAM Oil Tools has acquired Chancellor Oil Tool, a pioneer in the development and commercialization of liner hangers, cement heads and running tools for the oil and gas industry. Byron Cowart, TEAM’s CEO, will oversee the combined business.


Vallourec Tube-Alloy, formerly known as V&M Tube Alloy, a manufacturer of downhole accessories and engineered products, and provider of premium threading, has adopted a new name and common identity, in line with its parent company, Vallourec, as of Sept. 1. Vallourec Tube-Alloy provides accessories and services worldwide for offshore and onshore applications.


Oilfield services company Oil States International has sold Sooner, Inc. and its subsidiaries to Marubeni-Itochu Tubulars America for $600 million in aggregate cash consideration. Sooner comprised the entirety of the company's Tubular Services segment, and provides OCTG distribution and related services.


Rainbow Ceramics, a manufacturer and supplier of ultra-lightweight, lightweight, intermediate- and high-strength ceramic proppants used in hydraulic fracturing, recently opened a new North American sales and technology center in Houston. With the aim of enhancing product application solutions and developing new product technologies, Rainbow will provide customer technical support and product quality control services from the new facility.


GE Oil & Gas has been awarded a contract to provide Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) with turbomachinery equipment and services for a new oil and gas production platform being built to support the production activities of Statoil and its partners Total and Det Norske in the Gina Krog field in the Norwegian North Sea. Gina Krog (previously known as Dagny) is 30 km northwest of the Sleipner field, and approximately 250 km southwest of Stavanger, Norway.


Industrial minerals processor and supplier Excalibar Minerals, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Newpark Resources, plans to add a new, fully-automated, 66-in. Raymond Roller Mill to its state-of-the-art grinding facility in Corpus Christi, Texas. The new milling system is slated to be operational during first-quarter 2014, and is expected to significantly increase the current plant capacity for processing crude ore into API-grade barite.


Cubility, creators of the world’s first solids control equipment to utilize vacuum conveyor technology, has signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with Samsung Heavy Industries to install 12 MudCubes on two of Statoil’s Category J harsh environment jackups in the North Sea. The two companies also agreed on prices and conditions for two additional Statoil Category J rigs. This implementation marks MudCube’s first commercial system on an offshore newbuild project in the North Sea.


Commander Drilling Technologies (CDT) has announced its formation as a provider of turnkey drilling and completion services in the GOM. CDT management is led by Stephen Morrison, who was previously employed by Applied Drilling Technologies Inc. (ADTI), a subsidiary of Transocean.


Tejas Tubular Products plans to construct a new facility in New Carlisle, Ind. The facility will focus on the heat treatment and manufacturing of 41/2 to 95/8-in. OD well casing. The primary output of this newest Tejas facility will be heavier weight production casing.


Marine Cybernetics recently signed its first contract for the delivery of hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing to a total of six newbuild mobile drilling units (MODU), to be used by Petrobras in Brazil. Petrobras has introduced a requirement for independent testing of software and control systems on all newbuild drilling rigs to be used in Brazil.


Delta Rigging & Tools has reached an agreement with Redaelli to be the exclusive Redaelli distributor for the onshore and offshore U.S. GOM region. The agreement gives Delta sales and marketing exclusivity in the GOM region for Redaelli’s specialty compacted, non-rotating and multi-strand steel wire ropes.


Danos, a strategic construction and production services partner, will retain its headquarters in Louisiana, and has selected a site in Houma, La., for its new $10-million corporate headquarters facility. Danos also is evaluating multiple Louisiana port locations for a waterfront fabrication facility. Both new facilities will be complete by the end of 2014.


After starting up in 2009, Tubi, a manufacturer and technology provider specializing in high-density polyethylene pipe, has now completed the patent/exclusive IP process on its proprietary modular mobile pipe extrusion technology. Tubi’s mobile system can produce pipe in sizes from 90 mm to 630 mm, and 700 mm to 1,400 mm. The entire mobile plant can be relocated within 24 hours.
