Det Norske Veritas (DNV) has appointed Rune Torhaug as the new managing director for DNV Research and Innovation. He has worked internationally with leadership roles in DNV Energy, DNV Maritime and DNV Business Assurance. Torhaug has a strong background in risk methodology and reliability.


Tom Anderson, V.P. of global staffing and recruiting at CB&I, will begin serving a two-year term as chair of the board of directors of the Rice Engineering & Construction (E&C) Forum on January 1, 2013. As chairman of the board, Anderson also will chair the E&C Forum’s executive committee. Other members of the organization’s executive committee beginning in 2013 are: Martin Humphreys, V.P. of engineering at KBR; David Timberlake, director of research at Kiewit Oil, Gas and Chemical North America; Tim Brown, global V.P. of inside sales and marketing at Jacobs Engineering; John Katok, executive vice president at Oil & Gas Solutions; J. P. Chevriere, president of Transmar Consulting; Bill Wingate, V.P. of strategy and development at SNC-Lavalin Engineers and Constructors; Loren Kool, director of offshore business development at Audubon Engineering; Chun Liang, chief engineer of the offshore market sector at Bechtel, Dr. Satish Nagarajaiah, professor of Civil and Mechanical and Engineering in the George R. Brown School of Engineering, Rice University; and Martin Van Sickels, president of MVS Consulting.


Aquatic Engineering & Construction Ltd, an Acteon company, has appointed Jenny Bamford as V.P. commercial and part of its senior leadership team. Bamford has worked in both the telecoms and the offshore oil and gas industries.


Hess Corp. announced that Drew Maloney has been appointed V.P., government affairs and public policy. Maloney will lead the company’s international, federal and state relations, and be based in Washington, D.C. He was previously CEO of Ogilvy Government Relations. He also served as a senior advisor to the Republican National Committee and head of legislative affairs for the Romney Readiness Project.


TransCoastal Corporation (TCC), has appointed John Schmid as chief engineer. Schmid brings more than 33 years of E&P experience in exploiting opportunities, in areas of core technical competency, and in minimizing capital expenditures and lease operating expenses. He will be primarily involved in TCC’s growing Texas Panhandle exploration.


Wall Colmonoy has added Philip Tilston to its European team as CFO. Tilston joins the company with over 25 years of finance experience in manufacturing industries. His previous positions have included deputy managing director and CFO for Turtle Wax Europe and finance director for Akcros Chemicals, a subsidiary of Akzo Nobel.


Superior Energy Services has named Carlos Martín regional director of Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) for Latin America. Based in Neuquén, Argentina, Martín will be responsible for facilitating the implementation of the company’s HSEQ strategies, policies, practices and programs across all Latin American corporate and subsidiary operations. He will also be responsible for facilitating development and implementation of region-specific HSEQ requirements. He has more than 25 years of HSEQ-related experience.


Gulfstream Services, Inc., has named Lonnie Hornsby as business development manager. Based in Houston, Hornsby will provide additional coverage to promote the company’s portfolio while surveying areas in which the firm can grow domestically and internationally. He has a wealth of management experience in previous positions, including account manager for Archer Well Company; technical sales manager, Liner Hanger Division for Dril-Quip; and business development manager, Deepwater, at Baker Hughes.


Senergy has strengthened its management team with three senior appointments. Rhys Medler has been appointed to the new role of V.P. in Quality, Health, Safety, Security and Environment, (QHSSE) and Compliance. He is joined by Dick Hall in the position of alternative energy and power engineering global coordinator, and Tony Morton as global technical head of power systems.


TAM International has appointed Jim McGowin to general manager of TAM Completion Systems, and Ray Frisby to technical director. As general manager, McGowin will be charged with establishing, managing and growing operations and sales for the recently created TAM Completion Systems, while Frisby will lead the development of new technologies for TAM International. Both McGowin and Frisby are oil and gas veterans, with more than 50 years of combined experience. McGowin most recently held positions as sales director and global account director, while Frisby served as engineering director.


Intetech has hired Kyle Volf to head up its operations in North America. He takes on the newly-created role of manager for the recently incorporated Intetech USA. Volf joins from BP, where he held a variety of critical roles spanning engineering, project management and strategic planning. During his time at BP, Volf led the development of well integrity studies to estimate the future maintenance costs for the Prudhoe Bay well stock in Alaska.


Doug R. Jones has joined Platform Management as division manager of COOPER Quarter Turn Products. Jones is responsible for developing and organizing the Quarter Turn division, focused specifically on ball valves and triple offset butterfly valves. He has 30 years of experience, with an emphasis in Quarter Turn Products.


National Oilwell Varco has named Clay Williams president and COO. Williams has served as the company’s executive V.P. and COO since March 2005. He served as Varco International, Inc.’s V.P. and CFO from January 2003 until its merger with the company in March 2005. Jeremy Thigpen will assume the role of senior V.P. and CFO.


Nautronix has appointed three vice presidents to its sales team. Subsea development manager Dan Williams is serving as the company’s V.P., Sales, Commercial Acoustics. Williams assumes direct responsibility for building the awareness of Nautronix ADS² technology in the global marketplace. Tony Evans also joined the company as V.P., Sales, NASNet. Evans is responsible for developing the awareness and understanding of NASNet positioning technology; the broadcast-only system for ultra-deepwater vessels; and managing the field sales activities therein. Nautronix has also appointed Edward H. Smyth as V.P., Sales, Americas. Smyth brings over 30 years of oil and gas sales and business development experience having spent the last 20 years in senior positions at ABB and Baker Hughes in Houston. Nautronix also recently appointed an experienced marketing professional, Suzanne Menzies, who is tasked with managing international marketing activities.


Global Geophysical Services has appointed Ross Peebles to the position of Senior Vice President, E&P Services and Lawrence (Larry) Scott to the position of Vice President, Global Microseismic Services.
