Warrior Technologies, a provider of specialized software solutions for the oil and gas industry, has teamed up with Mindshare Technology, a developer of real-time business intelligence software, to jointly deliver a new generation of surface-system software. This will include features for distributing real-time surface analysis to wireless devices, Internet-based applications, databases and more. Warrior will incorporate Mindshare's technology into their own products, as well as resell Mindshare software to create a new suite of offerings for the oil and gas industry.


QuantX Wellbore Instrumentation Ltd acquired UK-based Plus Design Ltd, an in-well electronic monitoring research and development technology company that manufactures downhole products for the oil and gas service sector. Established in 1988, Plus Design technology has been widely deployed in downhole monitoring, having developed and manufactured in-well sensor and electronic devices for QuantX and a number of permanent gauge and electric submersible pump monitoring service companies. Plus Design markets a range of completion-deployed permanent pressure, temperature, flow, fluid density and artificial-lift monitoring systems.


Air France is enhancing its Dedicate program with new service to Doha (Qatar), Kuwait and Tashkent (Uzbekistan). The Dedicate custom-designed program features scheduled routes and nonstop flights to some of the world's more remote destinations to simplify travel to major areas of economic activity. Air France launched the program in January 2004 with flights to Malabo (Equatorial Guinea) and Pointe Noire (Republic of the Congo). Pointe Noire is in high demand as the first non-stop flight out of Europe, and demand for Malabo is increasing as well. Departure and arrival times in Malabo are designed to facilitate connections and allow time for teams to rotate and debrief on production sites. A dozen new destinations are anticipated in 2005.


DONG A/S will enter the Dutch gas market with sales of gas to the Dutch energy company Essent. The gas will be supplied through the new pipeline connection from the Danish Tyra field to the Dutch offshore pipeline system, Nogat. DONG is co-owner of the pipeline. About 500 million cubic meters of natural gas per year will be supplied.


ElectroMagnetic GeoServices AS will be acquired by Warburg Pincus, a private equity firm, from Statoil Innovation AS and the Norwegian Geotechnical Institute. Emgs was established in 2002 to commercialize technology developed by Statoil ASA and the Norwegian Geotechnical Institute. The company has developed a technology that utilizes electromagnetic energy to investigate the sub-surface. Emgs has already been awarded five patents in the U.S. and Europe covering its key technologies. To date, the company has successfully completed more than 45 seabed logging surveys in the Norwegian Sea, North Sea, Barents Sea and offshore West Africa for a variety of state-owned and major international oil companies.


Petro-Canada has acquired 29.9% interest in Buzzard field in the UK North Sea through the purchase of Intrepid Energy North Sea Ltd, Intrepid Energy Ltd and Intrepid Energy (UK) LLC. Petro-Canada is one of Canada's largest oil and gas companies, operating in both the upstream and downstream sectors of the industry in Canada and internationally.


Offshore Energy Services (OES) has opened a new location in Oil City, Louisiana. OES is a tubular installation company headquartered in Broussard, Louisiana. District Manager Neil Loupe will be heading the 10,000-sq-ft facility, located north of Shreveport.


GE Energy has completed its acquisition of ChevronTexaco's gasification technology business. All of ChevronTexaco's current gasification technology employees have been offered positions by GE Energy. With most of those employees located in Texas, GE Energy will continue to headquarter the business there.


Uranium Power Corp. agreed to purchase 100% of the issue shares of American Oil Sands Co., which owns 51% of the Firebag East Oil Sands Project, for 3,000,000 restricted common shares and a $0.12 per barrel royalty. The Firebag East Permits are adjacent to and east of other oil sand projects, including Suncor Energy's Firebag SAGD operations, Synenco Energy Northern Lights Open Pit Project, and Petro Canada's Lewis SAGD project. SAGD (steam-assisted gravity drainage) is an in-situ steam production process from horizontal wells. Together, these four projects are reporting reserves of approximately 14 billion bbl.


UHC Petroleum Corp. has received a permit from the State of Texas to inject nitrogen for the attempted recovery of a greater portion of the oil-in-place reserves under its leases in the Val Verde basin in Texas. This technique is intended to assist in recovery of the about 168 million bbl of oil remaining in place. UHC is on schedule with the initial phase to have four injection wells and 26 producing wells, but may increase the scope of the first phase to six injection wells and 86 producing wells.


LandWorks, Inc., of Houston, has agreed to acquire Geodynamic Solutions, Inc., a specialist in petroleum exploration-oriented geographic information systems. LandWorks closed the transaction in a share-exchange agreement. This provides LandWorks with a suite of enterprise software products including Petrolynx and the Spatial Search Engine technology, and will expand its consulting and custom application development division. Geodynamic Solutions will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary.


Frost & Sullivan named Emerson Process Management 2004 Company of the Year for its leadership in the process control and automation industry. Also honored was John Berra, president of Emerson Process Management, who received Frost & Sullivan's Lifetime Achievement Award in the process control and automation industry. The Company of the Year award recognizes demonstrated excellence in terms of business development, competitive strategy and customer service leadership within the industry, and acknowledges outstanding management, consistent growth, high-quality products and services, as well as a positive social and economic impact on local and national communities.
