January 13, 2020

HOUSTON - Stress Engineering Services has acquired Laserstream, a technical service company specializing in laser mapping of tubular assets.

The acquisition will provide high-resolution pipe ID scanning hardware and imaging software while enhancing SES’s competencies within upstream, midstream, downstream, aerospace, consumer and medical services.

The acquisition adds to SES’s present technology portfolio of service offering for non-destructive testing, asset condition-based maintenance and monitoring, predictive data analytics and IoT ecosystem to manage and assess baseline and degradation in tubulars. The enhanced level of services will vastly benefit those with a stake in identifying and managing risks and the deterioration of their tubular assets.

SES will gain Laserstream’s state-of-the-art equipment, to combine with its laboratories and service offerings in Houston; Waller, Texas; New Orleans; Cincinnati; Singapore; and Calgary, Alberta.

Kenneth Bhalla, chief technical officer, SES, said, “We believe that growing our existing capabilities is critical to our success in the broad spectrum of markets in which we participate. The acquisition of Laserstream will add new, innovative capabilities in our core markets. This will diversify our product portfolio and capabilities in new and important areas. We are very excited to add Laserstream to an already outstanding business and team.”

Jason Waligura, co-founder of Laserstream, commented, “We are proud of the prior working relationship enjoyed between our two companies and we are confident that Laserstream will forge a successful future as part of SES. We look forward to delivering strong results for our existing clients, as well as expanding our capabilities with the world class service and capability of SES.”

Bhalla will lead the company’s combined efforts and Waligura will join SES to integrate the technology across SES’s vertical market, creating business applications for the new technology.
