Sparrows Group has secured a three-year contract to deliver fixed crane maintenance, as well as lifting and rigging services for the Ichthys LNG project—the largest discovery of hydrocarbon liquids in Australia in more than 40 years.

Sparrows Group has secured a three-year contract to deliver fixed crane maintenance, as well as lifting and rigging services for the Ichthys LNG project—the largest discovery of hydrocarbon liquids in Australia in more than 40 years. The company’s Perth and Darwin teams will support activities at the Ichthys onshore LNG site, as well as the offshore central processing facility, Ichthys Explorer, and the Ichthys Venturer FPSO. The scope of work includes maintenance, servicing and inspection of lifting equipment and cranes, the supply of lifting equipment, spare parts and materials, and technical and engineering support. 

Statoil has awarded a master service contract to 4Subsea. Under terms of the agreement, 4Subsea will deliver services and research projects related to structural integrity of fixed and floating offshore installations. The contract covers the company’s entire scope of services, including operational services, R&D, digital services, monitoring and traditional engineering. Additionally, the company will work directly with Statoil on multiple R&D projects related to improved operations of oil and gas fields.

OneSubsea, a Schlumberger company, has been awarded an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract by BP. The contract will see OneSubsea supply the subsea production system for BP’s Mad Dog 2 development in the Gulf of Mexico. Additionally, the scope of work includes subsea manifolds, trees, control system, single- and multi-phase meters, water analysis sensors, intervention tooling and test equipment for producer and water injection wells associated with the project. In addition to the contract awarded to OneSubsea, an engineering, procurement, construction and installation contract was awarded to Subsea 7. As part of the Subsea Integration Alliance, Subsea 7 collaborates with OneSubsea and will, under terms of the agreement, supply subsea controls, flexible risers, pipeline systems, umbilicals and associated subsea architecture.

GE Oil & Gas has opened a new sub-Saharan Africa facility in Takoradi Port, Ghana. To establish its local team, the company will reportedly deliver more than 45,000 hr of training for Ghanaian personnel over the next five years. Additionally, the company has recruited more than 30 Ghanaian staff to work at the new facility, including two field service engineers. The new facility—which is expected to serve as the primary service center for the country’s deepwater projects—will include 1,600 m2 of indoor test area, as well as 4,000 m2 of storage area. It will play an integral part in supporting the installation of Eni’s Cape Three Points project, for which GE Oil & Gas is supplying subsea and turbomachinery equipment.

JDR has partnered with Proserv Instrumentation Nigeria, strengthening its presence in West Africa. Through the strategic alliance, JDR will establish a service and maintenance base in Proserv’s operations facility in Port Harcourt, Nigeria. Together, the companies will offer combined subsea solutions and local content support to the West African market. Offerings reportedly will include maintenance and offshore installation services, product termination, and testing and technical training.

At its Arzamas plant, Honeywell Process Solutions (HPS) is expanding the manufacture of oil and gas solutions for the Russian energy sector. Through new product lines, equipment and training at the plant—which is found in the Nizhny Novgorod region—the company will develop gas measurement equipment and gas regulators for medium- and high-pressure applications. The first product lines to be added include the Q Sonic Ultrasonic flowmeters for measurement of gas flow and volume, the EnCal 3000 gas chromatograph for gas composition analysis, FC1 flow computers, and metering skid solutions. 

Danos has announced that it will consolidate its Canonsburg office into a new facility in Martins Ferry, Ohio. The company will, however, continue to maintain its offices in Mansfield, Ohio. Bordering the Ohio River, the new location is aimed at better serving customers in the Utica/Marcellus regions. The new facility will include 2,500 ft2 of office space and 6,000 ft2 of shop space. Opening the new facility will reportedly bring together more than 35 field technicians and office personnel. Representing the company’s second major expansion of its automation services, the Martins Ferry facility will provide 24/7 call-out services for automation, in addition to production services, installations, maintenance, gas calibration, control system testing and automation programming services. The company also has reported plans to add construction and coatings services to its offerings in the future.

Wood Group has secured a contract with Premier Oil for the delivery of topside operations and maintenance services to the Balmoral floating production vessel (FPV) in the central North Sea, and the Solan installation, West of Shetland. The two-year contract, worth $50 million, sustains more than 150 jobs and has three one-year extension options. Since 2014, Wood Group has supported Premier Oil in the delivery of fabric maintenance services at the Balmoral FPV, as well.

Shell Offshore has awarded a contract to TechnipFMC. The contract will see the delivery, integration and installation of the subsea production system (SPS) and subsea riser, jumper and flowline (SURF) equipment for phase one of the Kaikias deepwater project, about 130 mi off the coast of Louisiana. Additionally, under terms of the agreement, TechnipFMC is expected to manufacture, install and assimilate proprietary SPS and SURF equipment, which is designed to improve project shares by optimizing field production and minimizing lead times. The scope of work includes the first application of TechnipFMC’s compact pipeline end manifold and horizontal connection system technologies with flexible jumpers.

Siemens has opened a new service center in Geismar, La., nearly 30 mi south of Baton Rouge, which is intended to better serve the Gulf Coast oil and gas industry. Engineers and manufacturing technicians at the service center will now utilize 28,000 ft2 of shop floor space. The facility features the latest technology used to repair and rebuild key equipment, including centrifugal and reciprocating compressors, steam turbines, expanders, pumps and rotary compressors.

International mooring firm First Marine Solutions (FMS) has aligned with Interocean Marine, a marine services company, to form FMS Interocean. The companies will combine equipment and technical capabilities, offering improved integrated mooring solutions to their clients. The alliance reportedly will offer marine project solutions including joint provision of marine, engineering, moorings and survey services to global industries. As part of the agreement, FMS has purchased £5-million worth of mooring equipment from Interocean, which increases the company’s inventory value to £40 million.
