Energean Israel, a subsidiary of Energean Oil & Gas, has submitted the field development plan (FDP) for Karish and Tanin natural gas fields to the Israeli Petroleum Commissioner. The fields’ combined resources reportedly amount to 2.7 Tcf and 41 MMboe of light hydrocarbon liquids. Consistent with the FDP, Energean will drill three wells as part of the Karish Main Development, utilizing a new FPSO unit that will be installed nearly 56 mi from the coast. Following the development of Karish, the company expects to drill six wells as part of the Tanin Area Development. These wells reportedly will be connected to the same FPSO.

Shale Support, a U.S.-based frac sand supplier, has been recognized for safety achievements at two facilities. It was reported that the company maintained a recordable incident rate of zero throughout the entire year in 2016. The company received a Certificate of Achievement in Safety from the Mine Safety & Health Administration, as well as the Sentinels of Safety Award from the National Mining Association.

PJ Valves (PJV) and PJ Piping (PJP) have secured a major contract with McDermott International to supply valves and piping elements to a project more than 37 mi off the southeastern coast of Trinidad and Tobago. PJV and PJP reportedly will manufacture more than 500 specialty ball, gate and double-block and bleed valves, as well as compact flanges from facilities in Italy and India. The companies reported that all valves will be metal-seated, to ensure that they remain reliable, in spite of the gas field’s harsh environmental conditions. The offshore project, which is situated in water depths of approximately 213 ft, is expected to produce first oil in 2019.

Fugro has been awarded a two-year contract extension by Petrobras for comprehensive inspection, repair and maintenance, and pipeline inspection services in Brazil. The agreement follows Fugro’s successful completion of an initial one-year contract, after taking delivery of the newbuild vessel Fugro Aquarius. Veolia and Peterson have announced that the first offshore structure has been accepted at the companies’ Great Yarmouth decommissioning facility. The Shell topsides, which previously served as living quarters for personnel working on the Leman BT and Leman BK platforms, arrived in the harbor on July 11. The Great Yarmouth decommissioning facility will manage the deconstruction and recycling of both topsides and jacket structures, which consist of about 1,600 tonnes of materials.

Maersk Supply Service has been awarded a long-term contract with Subtec SA de CV of Mexico, a subsidiary of Blue Marine Group, for a Stingray newbuild vessel. The contract represents the company’s entry into the Mexican market. The Stingray vessel will operate in the Campeche Bay, performing general support duties including IRM and maintenance of Pemex’s platforms, as well as enhancement and well stimulation. DNV GL has opened a new research and testing facility at Bishop Auckland, County Durham, UK. The site, which previously served as the Flow Center, has been positioned to enhance the research and testing capabilities at Spadeadam, in Cumbria. Accordingly, it is expected to increase the scope of work across both centers. The new facility reportedly has been expanded to better serve the region’s offshore sector. It boasts one of the world’s largest HP natural gas test facilities, and it is considered the largest facility of its kind in the UK.

Sparrows Group has secured a three-and-a-half-year extension to its inspection services contract for Stena Drilling’s global drilling fleet. The contract extension includes the execution of LOLER lifting gear surveys, potential dropped objects surveys, a cargo carrying unit and non-destructive testing inspections, as well as rig-specific maintenance. AFGlobal has acquired Advanced Measurement Inc. (AMI), a provider of automation, controls and data management systems. According to AFGlobal, the acquisition strengthens the company’s upstream drilling, completion and production smart technology offerings. Formerly a wholly-owned subsidiary of Key Energy Services, AMI provides products and services to a wide-ranging customer base, including contractors, operators and service companies. It is based in Calgary, Alberta.

Sparrows Group and SPIE Oil & Gas Services have been awarded their first joint delivery project. The scope of the agreement includes maintenance, inspection and testing services on five pedestal cranes at Total E&P Congo’s Moho Nord development, in West Africa. Work is scheduled to begin during third-quarter 2017 and will commence for a period of three years. The project reportedly will be managed by SPIE, with expert specialist technical personnel provided by Sparrows.

CGG GeoSoftware has donated a full suite of its software to the Petroleum Learning Center, a joint educational venture of Tomsk Polytechnic University in Russia, and Heriot-Watt University in Scotland. The learning center, which is based in Tomsk, Siberia, trains professionals to work in the oil and gas industry. CGG’s donation includes training licenses for each of the software solutions in its product portfolio.

Karoon Gas Australia Ltd. has approved the development concept for its Echidna light oil discovery in Brazil’s Santos basin. According to the company, Echidna can now be moved into the next phase of development; FEED. The approved development concept includes a leased FPSO facility, two extended horizontal production wells and one gas injection well. Completion is scheduled for March 2018, and a final investment decision is planned for June 2018.
