Sparrows Group has won a five-year contract to deliver hydraulic, lifting and rigging services for Maersk Oil’s UK floating assets. The agreement includes operator support that will strengthen lifting operations for the Global Producer 3 (GP3) and Gryphon FPSOs, as well as the new Culzean FSO. The scope of work will include maintenance, repair, parts and materials procurement, as well as management and certification of all lifting equipment. Mechanical engineering services will be provided, as well. This includes failure modes, effects and criticality analysis studies; finite element analysis; design and build of structural and mechanical assemblies and small pressure vessels; reverse engineering and fabrication; and lifting operations. Gazprom Neft Badra, a Gazprom Neft subsidiary, said it commissioned three new production wells—BD-2, P-14 and P-10—at Badra field in Iraq. The wells reportedly produce 23,000 bopd, while total daily field production is averaging 77,000 bbl. These wells follow the addition of four new wells at the field during 2016, which reportedly produce a total 30,500 bopd. According to Gazprom Neft, pre-commissioning work is underway at the field’s gas processing plant. Wood Group has secured two contracts related to BP’s Mad Dog 2 project, in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico. Both agreements will see Wood Group deliver engineering services aimed at increasing deepwater production. The company was contracted by Samsung Heavy Industries to provide detailed engineering and procurement services for the topsides portion of the project’s floating production unit. The contract has been valued at $80 million. The second contract will see Wood Group’s Specialist Technical Solutions business provide subsea engineering and project management services to the project. Valued at $4.89 million, the contract includes the delivery of gas lift system interface design, geospatial information system support, subsea controls engineering, and geotechnical engineering support.

Exxon Mobil has awarded the first global license of its Drilling Advisory System to Pason Systems. The system is reportedly a key component of the company’s Fast Drill technology suite. The licensing agreement will combine the drilling data capabilities of Pason, and Exxon Mobil’s drilling surveillance and optimization know-how. Thus far, use of the drilling system has improved the company’s drilling performance at nine fields.

Weatherford International’s Aberdeen-based Secure Drilling Services facility has obtained API Specification Q2 certification, the highest quality standard presented by API. It is recognized as the world’s most advanced certification for oil and gas service providers. This marks the first API Q2-certified facility in the UK. VAM USA has opened a new field service office in Odessa, Texas, in an effort to better support its growing number of customers in the Permian basin. The 1,600-ft facility will house complete sets of running tools, as well as impart the requisite expertise needed in the expanding Permian market. The company now offers three service locations in Texas.

Solstad Offshore Asia-Pacific has awarded a marine construction survey support contract to iSURVEY Pte Ltd Singapore. The contract, which was scheduled to begin in March, is for work onboard the DLB Norce Endeavour. With options for extension in 2018 and 2019, the four-month contract will see iSURVEY supply positioning and survey support to Solstad’s 2017 pipeline and platform installation program in Thailand. STEP Oil & Gas has relocated its facilities in Rio das Ostras, Brazil. The new premises offer more than 150,000 ft2 of industrial workspace, allowing for increased capacity from the nearby Macaé Port. The company’s oil and gas capabilities will now also include one workshop of 2,500 m2, and a 5-ton overhead traveling gantry. Two future workshops are earmarked for stainless steel/duplex work and surface treatment, including internal polyethylene pipe coating. According to STEP, more services will be integrated at a later time.

SIMMONS EDECO has secured a framework agreement with EDF Energy to maintain its gas storage facilities in Cheshire, England. The company will provide a variety of wellhead maintenance services—routine and custom, alike—in an effort to maximize operations. Additionally, the scope of work will include the installation and removal of wellheads and Christmas trees, as well as workover support and valve maintenance. SIMMONS EDECO also will carry out annulus testing, echometering and data analysis, assessing well liquid levels.

Trinidad Offshore Fabricators Unlimited (TOFCO) recently completed work for the Juniper offshore gas platform topsides at its facility in La Brea, Trinidad. The project marks a milestone for Trinidad and Tobago as it is the largest offshore structure ever fabricated in the country. Juniper is a Normally Unmanned Installation (NUI) measuring 145 ft to the top of the helideck and weighing approximately 5,200 tons. It was recently installed 50 mi off the southeast coast of Trinidad at a water depth of 360 ft. An anticipated production capacity of 590 MMcfgd will flow through the Mahogany B offshore hub. TOFCO delivered the project safely and within budget,  and it was also completed and pre-commissioned prior to the scheduled sail-away date. More than two million man-hours were recorded without a lost-time incident on Juniper.
