GDF SUEZ E&P UK Limited awarded Technip an engineering, procurement, installation and construction contract for the Juliet project, 40 km east of the Humberside estuary, at a water depth of 20 m to 60 m. The contract, which is a tie-back to the Pickerill A platform, is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2013. It will use vessels from the Technip fleet, including the Apache II and Normand Pioneer.


Freudenberg has acquired its eighth company, Vector Technology Group. The Vector product portfolio includes the Techlok Clamp Type Connector, SPO Flange Type Connector, Optima Subsea Connector, and metal-to-metal sealing technology.


API has certified Schramm Inc. as API-Q1, ISO-9001:2008, ISO/TS 29001, API-4F, API-8C and API-7K for the design and manufacture of drilling and well-servicing structures and equipment. The first three specifications certify that Schramm complies with internationally recognized quality management system requirements. The next three certifications relate directly to specific key equipment subsets typically found on Schramm Telemast rigs utilized in the oil & gas industry.


Frank’s International announced two new company records, set in the Gulf of Mexico. The company successfully ran 15,851 ft of 16-in. x 16.04-in. casing in over 7,000 ft of water in the Gulf of Mexico, using Frank’s specialized “Extended Range” 1,250-ton casing equipment.  The landing string equipment then landed the casing, using 7,145 ft of drill pipe, achieving a final hook load of 1,960,000 pounds. The company also recently broke its own record for supporting the highest hook load recorded in the Gulf of Mexico, using a Frank’s 6 5/8-in. 1,250-ton drill pipe elevator, with the total hook load reaching 2,275,000 lbs. of combined casing and landing string drill pipe.


BOURBON has expanded its fleet of personnel transport vessels by taking delivery of the Bourbon Sirocco and the Bourbon Shamal, the first two in a series of 4 versatile FSIVs. The vessels are designed by Piriou Ingénierie and Mauric Design, and built by the Piriou SEAS shipyard in Vietnam. Variable Bore Rams has entered into an agreement with Weatherford Asia Pacific to provide Blowout Preventer (BOP) rams. The range of equipment stock will include rams of multiple sizes in varying categories.


Newpark Resources has acquired Alliance Drilling Fluids, a provider of drilling fluids, proppants and related services,  and headquartered in Midland, Texas, for $53 million. Alliance recorded revenues of $89 million and operating income of $14 million during 2011, of which around 50% of revenue and 40% of operating income was attributable to the proppant business.


NCS Survey, an Acteon company, has opened its second office block at its headquarters in Aberdeen, UK, as well as new offices in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and Stavanger, Norway. The Westhill, Aberdeen, office has been designated as a Subsea Centre of Excellence, while the offices in Brazil and Norway are the first two in a series that will establish an international presence for NCS Survey over the next three years.


Vallourec Tubes Canada and VAM Canada have merged, effective Jan. 1, 2013. The new entity’s name is Vallourec Canada Inc., and it has operations in four locations, Calgary and Nisku in Alberta, plus Paradise Newfoundland, and Burlington, Ontario.
