Deborah F. Witmer has been named V.P. of U.S. External Affairs for Shell Oil Company.  She will lead  Shell’s corporate external affairs programs and operations,  including media relations, corporate communications, advertising and corporate identity, crisis communications, stakeholder relations and social investments. This is a new position that will be based in Houston.  Witmer took up her duties on Sept. 15, reporting to Roxanne Decyk, senior V.P. for  Corporate Affairs/Human Resources.


Knight Oil Tools International has named Ron Aitken V.P., Eastern Hemisphere operations, which covers operations in Europe, the Middle East and Asia. Mike Foster has been named regional V.P., South America. Aitken has more than 34 years’ experience in international oil tool rental and fishing service markets. Prior to joining Knight, Aitken was general manager and sales director for Global Rentals Ltd. in Norway. Foster has 32 years of experience in fishing service operations, sales and management, and has been with Knight since 2007.


Halliburton announced that Jeff Miller has been promoted to Executive V.P. and COO. Miller will be responsible for the company’s global operations, as well as business development and marketing. He has held a number of positions at Halliburton, including most recently as Senior V.P. of Global Business Development and Marketing, responsible for strategic account management, sales and marketing. He has also served as Senior V.P. of Halliburton’s Gulf of Mexico region, V.P. of the company’s Baroid business line, Country V.P. for Indonesia, and Country V.P. for Angola.


Matthew T. Irey has been named president and COO of Supported Intelligence (SI). Irey, a former executive at Hewlett Packard and Electronic Data Systems, will lead SI’s final development and market launch this fall of an advanced software product. Irey has extensive experience in IT, executive-level management, development and operational support, including more than 18 years with HP and EDS.


The EIC (Energy Industries Council) has appointed Aimee Marsh as its new executive director, North and Central America. Marsh will be based in EIC’s Houston office, responsible for spearheading EIC’s activities throughout the region. Her previous experience includes regional sales for Canyon Offshore, a Helix Company, where she was responsible for sales and marketing of ROVs and offshore service vessels, and project manager at Saipem America Inc.


David Fyfe, former head of oil market analysis for the International Energy Agency (IEA), will join Gunvor Group Ltd as head of market research & analysis. Fyfe has more than 20 years of experience in the oil and energy markets, covering oil sector activity from upstream through refining, plus demand forecasting. At Gunvor, Fyfe will conduct research and analysis of energy industry trends and related geopolitical developments. He will also serve a public role, articulating Gunvor’s outlook and perspective on issues facing global commodities trading.


Intertek has appointed Greg Dinkelman as business development manager, to expand the company’s calibration and metering service offerings in sub-Saharan and West Africa. Based in Cape Town, South Africa, Dinkelman joins Intertek with over 10 years of industry experience, in both management and field operations. 


J-W Energy Company has named Tony Meyer as president of J-W Operating Company. Meyer’s experience includes working in various engineering, operations and leadership positions at Anadarko Petroleum Corp. in Texas, Oklahoma, Alaska and Kansas. He was responsible for international operations in Qatar, Tunisia, Oman, Venezuela and Algeria.


Transocean Ltd. announced that Esa Ikäheimonen will succeed Gregory L. Cauthen as executive V.P. and CFO. Ikäheimonen has spent the majority of his 22-year career in the energy sector and previously served as senior V.P. and CFO of Seadrill Ltd.


Alderley plc has appointed Nick Hull as COO, focusing on providing strategic direction and operational support to the firm’s growing metering business. His experience spans more than 20 years at Alderley, having joined the firm in 1992.


Foster Marketing has named Megan Roiz as public relations account executive. Roiz joined the firm in June 2012 as a part-time public relations assistant, developing news releases and editing copy. In her new full-time role, she will assist with the agency’s public relations efforts, including public relations writing and editing, and media monitoring and reporting.


Sverre Myklebust has been appointed executive V.P. for Kvaerner’s Jackets business area, and as president of Kværner Verdal A/S. Myklebust has been serving in these positions since June 2012. He has more than 30 years’ experience in the industry, and has managed a range of major offshore projects.


The Offshore Energy Center held its annual Hall of Fame Induction ceremony last month. Inducted as individual Industry Pioneers for lifetime achievement were Benton F. Baugh (Radoil, Inc.), Wagner Freire (Petrobras), Myron Rodrigue (McDermott, Gulf Marine Fabricators and Kiewit Offshore Services) and Theodore Schroeder (T. S.) Stoneman (deceased, Danciger Oil & Refining Co., Southern Production Co. and the Offshore Company, now Transocean). There were additional Technology Pioneer inductions (both individuals and companies) for three specific categories on innovation. Recognized for Drill Floor Mechanization and Automation were Curtis Cooke, John Gadbois, Douglas Ragland, Roger Smith (the latter three deceased), Global Marine (now Transocean), Humble Oil & Refining Co. (now ExxonMobil), the Offshore Company (now Transocean) and the Byron Jackson Company (now National Oilwell Varco). Receiving awards for Horizontal Multiphase Flow Technology were Kjell Bendiksen, Per Fuchs, Dag Malnes, Jon Rasmussen, Ivar Brandt, Zheng-Gang Xu, Lee Norris and Richard Shea, along with The Insitute for Energy Technology, SINTEF and the SPT group. Recognized for Steel Catenary Risers were Don Allen, Ray Ayers, Don Barry, Frans Kopp, Carl Langner, Ed Phifer, Richard Swanson, E. G. “Skip” Ward, and Shell International Exploration and Production, Inc.


Bollinger Shipyards has announced the upcoming retirement of its V.P., Central Division, Larry Vauclin. He started his shipyard career in Houma, La., in 1960 with Main Iron Works, working as a supervisor until leaving to help start Quality Shipyard in 1969. Beginning as yard superintendent, he worked his way up to executive V.P./general manager for new construction and repair. Vauclin began his tenure at Bollinger in 1996 as V.P. and general manager of the Larose facility, and his responsibilities included additional Bollinger locations in Amelia for new construction and repair operations. In 2006, he became V.P., Central Division, responsible for three of Bollinger’s central Louisiana repair and conversion facilities.
