The Texas Institute of Science (TxIS) announced two appointments to its board of directors: Arnaud Bobillier, former executive V.P., operations integrity at Transocean, and Galen Cobb, V.P., Industry Relations at Halliburton. After 32 years of service, Arnaud retired from Transocean on July 1, 2012.


Intertek has appointed Mark Macleod as operations manager to run the company’s Asset Integrity Management service line internationally. Based in Alness, Scotland, Macleod is responsible for international operations, as well as dimensional control and laser scanning services, formerly operating as Intertek Hi-Cad. Macleod previously worked at Hi-Cad, which was acquired by Intertek in 2008.


United States Steel has elected Mario Longhi as executive V.P. and COO.  He will be based at U.S. Steel’s corporate headquarters in Pittsburgh. Longhi will be responsible for the company’s North American Flat-Rolled, Tubular and Central European operations, as well as global operations services. The company also announced the appointments of George F. Babcoke, Douglas R. Matthews and Michael S. Williams to the company’s executive management committee.


Knowledge Reservoir has named Dr. Sheldon Gorell as V.P., Technology. Gorell will lead Knowledge Reservoir in all aspects of its technology delivery to the market, and be responsible for both the subsurface and surface elements of the business.  He joins the company from Halliburton, where he held the title of chief technologist & subject matter expert.  He brings with him many years of experience in numerical modeling, reservoir simulation and reservoir engineering in general after tenure with Western Atlas Software, Landmark Graphics and Halliburton. 


Reamco, Inc. has named Ashley Lane as CEO. Familiar to Reamco, Lane assisted with the startup of the company in 1986 and progressed from operations manager to VP during his 12-year first tenure. Altogether, he holds 32 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. Lane garnered additional entrepreneurial and management experience through roles as International Business Development Manager of Superior Energy Services, Inc. (SESI) and President of Drilling Logistics, Inc., a downhole rental and manufacturing company that he spearheaded in Lafayette, La.


Ron Huff has been named CFO at Buccaneer Resources. Huff has over 30 years of financial experience in the energy industry, most recently serving as CFO of EdgeMarc Energy Holdings, a private equity E&P company focused in the Marcellus and Utica plays of the Appalachian basin. He has also worked for U.S.-based firms, such as Atlas Energy, Aurora Oil & Gas Corp and Transco.


Simon Howes has been appointed by Reservoir Group to head up Interica, the company’s all-in-one data management business. A former academic researcher at the University of Cambridge, Howes spent more than a decade developing in-house software and hardware designed to automate and drive the research process. This was followed by several product marketing roles across the high technology industry, before a move to the microscopy division of Carl Zeiss.


David Topping has been appointed to V.P. of Halliburton’s Wireline and Perforating business line. Prior to this appointment, he was the global operations manager for Wireline and Perforating. Topping joined Halliburton as a logging engineer in 1987, and worked in the UK and France before moving to other locations, including Gabon, Congo and Angola. In 2009, he became regional manager for Africa and later took on the regional manager role for the southern region in the U.S. He became global operations manager for Wireline and Perforating in 2010.


Devin International, a division of Greene’s Energy Group, has named Danny E. Watson as U.S. sales manager. Based in Houston, Watson will manage the North American sales group and will be responsible for business development and overall customer relations for North America. He will also supervise the growth of current and new technologies. Watson gained extensive management experience through several appointments with Halliburton Energy Services.


Hemisphere Energy Corp. has hired Andrew Arthur as V.P. of Exploration. Arthur is a professional geologist bringing more than 24 years of both domestic and international oil and gas experience to Hemisphere. He has been involved in many exploration and development projects, having drilled several hundred wells across the Western Canada Sedimentary basin.


Pressure Tech has appointed Russell Robinson as sales manager for the UK and Europe, to support the company’s expansion plans. He has worked in the sector for 15 years, having previously held a managerial position at high-pressure equipment provider, Fluid Control. At Pressure Tech, Robinson is tasked with increasing the company’s distribution network in the UK and Europe, via both existing customers and new channels.


Expro has announced two key appointments to cover business activities across the Middle East and North Africa. Hatem Speta joins as product line manager and Ossama Amin has been appointed as early production facilities manager. Speta’s duties will include driving activity in terms of well intervention and slickline, which look set to be growth areas for business in the region in the months ahead. He joins from Schlumberger, where he spent three years as a well test specialist, spending time in Libya, Italy and the UAE. Amin will be targeting MENA, where there is growing demand particularly for EPF projects. His career began as a field engineer working in both Egypt and Libya, working for Geoservices and then SAPESCO. He joined Expro’s business development team in KSA in 2011 and then spent time in Iraq as business development manager.


Rowan Companies has appointed J. Kevin Bartol to serve as Executive V.P., Finance and Corporate Development. In this new role, Bartol will lead the finance, investor relations and corporate development departments.


QTEC International has appointed Bill Walkingshaw as new general manager. Walkingshaw has joined the Aberdeen-based firm to lead its growth, particularly overseas.  He comes to the company from TWMA, bringing over 25 years of experience in the oil and gas sector to the role.


Prospectiuni SA announced the appointments of Eric Williams as V.P., West Africa, and Rahul Gupta as V.P., Asia. These executives will be responsible for identifying and negotiating new markets and opportunities for the company’s geophysical and geological services along with servicing the current client base and introducing new services. As V.P., West Africa, Williams will conduct the entire business development in all areas of expertise (minerals, oil and gas) for the very important geographical area of West Africa. As V.P., Asia, Gupta will explore and find new business opportunities in the central Asia countries. Gupta has held diverse leadership roles in various business development initiatives, in both conventional and unconventional business models.
