Buccaneer Energy Limited has advised that Kenai Offshore Ventures, LLC (KOV) has executed a heavy lift contract to transport the Endeavour from Singapore to the Cook Inlet, Alaska. The Endeavour is expected to depart Singapore at the end of July 2012 and it will take approximately 21 days to reach the Cook Inlet, where the rig will be offloaded and towed via tug to the first well location in Buccaneer’s offshore program. On completion of the 2012 drilling season anticipated to be in early November it is anticipated that the rig will be towed to the Cosmopolitan location in the ice free southern Cook Inlet to commence drilling operations.


Trinity Offshore has announced its official re-branding to TY Offshore. The Mississippi-based company designs and builds commercial tugs, offshore barges and oil spill response, patrol and oil field support vessels from 10 m to 95 m in length.


Stork Technical Services has secured a three-year contract, with two one-year extension options, from CNR International for the provision of integrated caisson integrity management services across the company’s UKCS assets. The company has also launched its new in-house fabric maintenance training center in Aberdeen, UK. A range of training, including new start trade tests, product familiarization, passive fire protection and thermally sprayed aluminum, will ensure the company’s blaster/sprayers meet the required standards and competencies prior to mobilization. The company expects to train and skill-screen over 400 personnel in the next 12 months.


RigNet, Inc. has acquired Nessco Group Holdings, an Aberdeen-based telecommunications systems integration company for the oil and gas industry.  The acquisition allows the company to provide its services over the life of the field, from drilling through production, both offshore and onshore, around the globe. 


Expro has been awarded a two-year contract working on the Who Dat project, in the Gulf of Mexico, for LLOG Exploration. Expro will provide subsea test trees for the project on the Mississippi Canyon (Block 547).


Fugro Seacore has completed drilling on the jacket installation works on the North Rankin B platform offshore Australia. Fugro Seacore designed, built and operated two large pile top drills for Heerema Marine Contractors for jacket installation work on the platform substructure. The North Rankin B platform is Australia’s largest offshore platform, measuring 100 m long by 50 m wide, and weighing 25,000 tonnes. It is part of the North Rankin 2 project, a $5-billion investment announced in 2008 for the North Rankin and Perseus gas fields offshore Australia.


The Bahrain Petroleum Company B.S.C. (BAPCO) has chosen GE to design and supply a membrane bioreactor (MBR) system for its oil refinery wastewater treatment plant in Sitra, near Manama. The project and the GE-supplied advanced water treatment technology will support BAPCO’s environmental leadership efforts to achieve the stringent wastewater quality levels specified by Bahrain’s General Directorate of Environment and Wildlife Protection regulation for wastewater discharge into the Gulf.


InterMoor, an Acteon company, has completed the installation of the Electrical Submersible Pump (ESP) Conductors for the artificial lift manifold as part of the Shell BC-10 Phase 2 project. InterMoor was responsible for the fabrication and installation of four conductors in addition to one spare conductor for the project. Weighing in at more than 70 metric tons, the conductors measured 48 in. in diameter and 60 m long, with a 1.5-in. wall.


Variable Bore Rams Inc., has added a distribution center in Yoakum, Texas. The new distribution center will reduce response time in West and South Texas by more than 20 hr. The distribution center’s equipment will include a large and diverse inventory specifically selected for these regions, along with a complete selection of spare elastomers.


FMC Technologies Inc. has signed an agreement with Statoil for the manufacture and supply of subsea production equipment to support the Gullfaks South field development. The contract has an estimated value of $200 million in revenue to FMC Technologies. Gullfaks South will be developed as a fast-track project in blocks 34/10 and 33/12 of the North Sea, in water depths between 425 and 720 ft. FMC’s scope of supply includes seven subsea production trees, seven wellhead systems, two integrated protection structures with manifolds, and additional controls and equipment.


Moller-Maersk said its oil and gas drilling services arm, Maersk Drilling, has received a two-year contract for the use of a new ultra-harsh environment jackup rig, for a drilling project in the Norwegian North Sea. The order, which comes from Norwegian oil company Statoil, has a value of around $284 million. The jackup rig is being used by U.S. oil major ConocoPhillips, and the new contract will commence in direct continuation of the present contract, which ends in either second-quarter 2014 or second-quarter 2015.


Wood Group GTS has secured an exclusive term maintenance agreement with Maersk FPSOs to support multiple Siemens gas turbines operating on their Curlew and North Sea Producer FPSO units. The contract duration is five years. This award encompasses planned and unplanned maintenance activities on six Siemens gas turbines, including two TB5400, two SGT-200 (Tornado) and two SGT-100 (Typhoon) engines. The comprehensive work scope will include field service, technical support, repair and full engine overhaul services.


ABB has agreed to acquire Amarcon BV, a Dutch company that develops and markets software solutions for the shipping industry. The acquisition will expand ABB’s advisory systems offering for customers in the maritime sectors. The transaction is expected to be closed in third-quarter 2012. Amarcon’s product portfolio provides software solutions for ships that focus on safety and improved operational ability. This addition to ABB’s portfolio will enhance the recently released offering of Marine Advisory Systems. Amarcon will join ABB’s Process Automation Division.
