John Meckert has assumed the role of VP of Services & Rentals for Canrig Drilling Technology. Meckert has been with the Nabors group of business units for more than 16 years, most recently serving as Senior VP of Peak USA.

Energy Cranes International Ltd. announced the appointment of Doug Sedge as CEO. He has more than 34 years in the energy services sector. Sedge was CEO of RBG Group from 2005 to 2008, and served most recently with the offshore technology group of Tesco Corp.

Mohamed Y. Soliman was awarded the Society of Petroleum Engineers’ Distinguished Membership award at the SPE ATCE annual conference in New Orleans. Soliman, a Chief Reservoir Engineer in Halliburton’s Completion and Production Division, is also an adjunct professor at the University of Houston. He was recognized for his significant, diverse, and consistent contributions to the oil industry technical literature, and his leading contributions to diagnostic testing and service on many SPE committees. Soliman has written more than 150 technical papers on fracturing, conformance, well test analysis, diagnostic testing and numerical simulation. He also holds 16 US patents.

The National Ocean Industries Association (NOIA) announced that Randall Luthi will become President of the organization, succeeding Tom Fry, who announced he is retiring in early 2010. Luthi served most recently as the Director of MMS. Prior to that, he was Deputy Director of the DOI’s Fish and Wildlife Service. Luthi was Wyoming Speaker of the House and a Wyoming State Representative for more than 10 years.

ESAB Welding & Cutting Products has appointed Andrew Masterman as President and CEO of ESAB North America. He will be based in Florence, South Carolina, and will replace Brendan Colgan, who assumes the role of Chairman of The ESAB Group, Inc. (North America), and will also become Operations Director for ESAB Global. Masterman was previously President of Metalico’s Platinum Group Metals division.

Completions technology provider Tendeka has named Raymond Garcia as a Non-Executive Director in the company’s senior management team. He has more than 20 years of experience in the energy industry, and is currently serving as VP, Ventures, at Tucker Technologies.

Ralph Kirkpatrick was appointed VP and Chief Engineer for GE Energy Infrastructure. Prior to joining GE, he was the Executive VP, Operations, for Rolls Royce Energy Systems.
