September global oil supply rose by 310,000 bpd. Though OPEC supply has continued to rise from the lows earlier in the year, global supply in 2009 was  nearly flat in comparison with September 2008. The IEA’s global oil demand forecast was revised upward by 200,000 bpd for 2009 and 350,000 bpd for 2010, mostly given stronger preliminary data and more optimistic IMF economic prognosis in the Americas and Asia. The IEA also noted that global refinery crude throughput for fourth-quarter 2009 is reduced by 200,000 bpd to 73.2 million bpd. This is attributed to de-clines in OECD Europe and North America, which compound lower Latin American projection. The decline is only partially offset by higher Other Asian estimates resulting from stronger third-quarter 2009 data. While the US rotary drilling rig count increased slightly in September, international rotary rigs had the largest single-month increase since April. WO
