Knight recently announced that Phillip Thomas Mitchell will be named General Manager of Knight Manufacturing. He previously worked as Engineering Manager and QHSSE Manager with a service provider in the UK, Houston and Lafayette, La.

Roxar ASA announced that Serena Arif will become the company’s new Regional Manager, Europe and Africa, for its Flow Measurement Division. She was co-founder and Business Development Manager at PolyOil, a UK-based company supplying polymer-based products to the completions, drilling and subsea industry.

Apache Corp. Founder and Chairman Raymond Plank retired after five decades leading the oil and gas independent. G. Steven Farris, Apache’s President, CEO and COO since 2002, succeeds Plank as Chairman. From initial seed capital of $250,000 in 1954, Apache’s market value has grown to about $25 billion. With oil and gas prices regulated at low levels during the 1960s, Plank built Apache into a mini-conglomerate. In 1981, the Plank team created the world’s first master limited partnership, which provided Apache with valuable acquisition currency, allowing it to survive in the brutal industry downturn of the 1980s.

Houston-based EAG Services, a software consulting firm for the E&P, midstream and energy services industries, announced that Intara Umpuch has been promoted to President. Most recently, he served as Director of Consulting Operations for EAG.

BJ Services Co. announced several key management appointments for its Tubular Services line in North America. Alan Casson has been promoted to Area Manager–USA, Mexico and Canada. With 31 years of experience in the oilfield service industry, Casson worked most recently for six years as Business Development Manager–Middle East for Tubular Services in Dubai. Also, Paul Adams was named Area Manager–Gulf of Mexico. Previously he was an Account Manager with Tubular Services in Broussard, La. Greg Braquet has been appointed Operations Manager–Gulf of Mexico. He has 29 years of experience in the oil and gas industry.

Panhandle Oil and Gas Inc. announced that Paul F. Blanchard, Jr., has been named VP and COO. Previously, Blanchard was VP of the Mid-Continent Business Unit for Range Resources Corp. in Oklahoma City.

Geophysical imaging firm ARKeX has appointed Stuart Gibson as CFO. Gibson has experience in several early-stage technology companies and was directly involved in a high-value trade sale of his previous company.

Fugro Gravity & Magnetic Services, the business development arm of Fugro Airborne Surveys and Fugro Ground Geophysics, has named its business development team for the Western Hemisphere. The team includes Dave Schwartz and Brenda Robinson in the United States; Jeff Rowe, Doug McConnell and Ian Davies in Canada; Ricardo Fernandez in Mexico; and Antonio Sousa Neves in Brazil. Schwartz, VP of Marketing for Fugro Gravity & Magnetic Services, has worked in geophysics for more than 35 years. Robinson joined Fugro in 2007, having worked in the petroleum and petrochemical industry for 15 years. Rowe, VP and Senior Geophysicist, leads Fugro’s Canadian operations and has 35 years of experience in the industry. McConnell, General Manager and Senior Geophysicist in Canada, has 22 years of experience in the geophysics field and has worked in seven countries. Davies, Business Development Manager in Canada, has been with Fugro for 19 years. Fernandez, a Senior Geophysicist and Business Development Manager in Latin America, has 27 years of experience in the geophysics industry across Latin America. Neves, a Senior Geoscience Consultant based in Brazil, has 43 years of experience in the industry and has worked in South America, Europe and Africa.

Pioneer Drilling Company selected Lorne E. Phillips as Executive VP and CFO. He has 14 years of experience in the oil service industry, with the last 10 years at Cameron International Corp., where he served most recently as VP and Treasurer. Also, Carlos R. Pena was appointed VP, General Counsel, Secretary and Compliance Officer for the company. Prior to joining Pioneer Drilling, he was part of a six-lawyer team handling all mergers and acquisitions for AT&T Inc.

Lime Rock Partners, a private equity firm focused on the global energy sector, named Will Franklin, J. McLane, and Simon Munro as Managing Directors of the Lime Rock Partners team. Franklin and McLane are based in the firm’s Houston office, while Munro is based in its Aberdeen, UK, location. McLane joined Lime Rock Partners in 1998, at the firm’s inception. Munro joined in 2002, and Franklin a year later.

Elizabeth Corbin has assumed leadership of the Marine Technology Society. Corbin, manager of the Science and Technology Branch of the Hawaii Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism (DBEDT), took over the position from Bruce C. Gilman, interim CEO of Deep Marine Technology. Corbin has been with DBEDT for over 25 years. Before joining the department, she spent 10 years in various research and administrative support positions at the University of Hawaii’s Institute of Marine Biology.

Steven R. Rutherford has joined Seismic Ventures Inc. as Director of its newly formed Direct Hydrocarbon Detection Services division. He will oversee the division’s array of AVO and direct detection service offerings. Before joining Seismic Ventures, Rutherford held research and operations positions with Getty Oil Co. and Tenneco Oil Co.
