Royal Dutch Shell has appointed Bruce Levell to the position of Chief Scientist Geology, bringing the total number of chief scientists at Shell to eight. With 29 years of experience, Levell is actively involved in the Geological Society and AAPG, and serves on the editorial board of Petroleum Geoscience.

Peter Parkinson joined the Asia Pacific business of Aquatic, an Acteon company, as Operations Manager. Parkinson has been involved in offshore construction in Asia for over 27 years, and will manage operations and resourcing for the region.

Cameron named Christopher A. Krummel as VP, Controller and Chief Accounting Officer. He succeeds Charles M. Sledge, who was named CFO. Krummel, who joined the company in October 2007, was previously CFO with Enventure Global Technology.

IDM Group announces that it has named Steve Krablin as Executive VP and CFO. He has over 25 years of experience as a financial executive in the international energy service industry, most recently as Senior VP and CFO of National Oilwell Varco.

ECCO Energy Corp. has retained Bob Wonish as COO. He has over 32 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. From 2007 to 2008, Wonish was President and COO of Petroleum Engineers Inc.

Edmonton-based oil and gas services company Canadian Advanced Inc. announced the appointment of Leo Mangano as President and CEO. He joins CAI with many years of operational experience in the ESP industry. Previously, Mangano held various management positions at Wood Group, Weatherford and Baker Hughes.

Teton Energy Corp. appointed Steve Godfrey as VP of Operations. Godfrey will be responsible for all drilling, production and completion operations. He has over 27 years of oil and gas experience, and has worked for Forest Oil since 2001 in various capacities.

Caesar Systems appointed Jeff Nelson as Client Services Manager. He brings 25 years of international energy experience, much of it with Mobil and ExxonMobil, where he held various senior-level positions. Prior to the Exxon-Mobil merger, Nelson was VP of Market Development for Mobil LNG.

Houston-based Valerus Compression Services announced the promotion of Jim Nicholson to VP of Human Resources. Nicholson has more than 20 years of oil and gas industry experience in human resources, safety, training and risk management in offshore production as well as drilling and oilfield equipment manufacturing. Prior to Valerus, he was VP of Human Resources for Grasso Production Management.

Kodiak Oil & Gas Corp., an oil and gas E&P company with assets in southwest Wyoming and the Williston Basin of North Dakota and Montana, has named Keith Doss as its CFO. He brings over 20 years of experience in accounting and financial management. Prior to joining Kodiak, Doss held various accounting and controller positions at various energy industry companies.

William D. Sutton joined RigNet Inc. in the new position of VP and General Counsel. He will be based in Houston. Sutton has previously served as General Counsel for several mid-sized companies, including Dailey International, Dash Multi-Corp and Lawrence Industries.

OPE Inc. announced the appointment of Randy Seehausen as Global Business Development Manager of the company’s pipeline and subsea divisions. Seehausen has 30 years of experience in subsea systems, including pipeline design and installation, PLETs, PLEMs and subsea field architecture.

TGS-NOPEC Geophysical Company has announced the appointment of David Hicks as VP, Africa/Middle East/Asia-Pacific Region. Hicks joined TGS in 2002 as Chief Technology Officer. He has over 20 years of industry experience with Landmark Graphics, Halliburton and ExxonMobil.

Arnaud Réal has been appointed Senior VP, Financial Control, of Technip. He was previously with Alcatel-Lucent for over 17 years, most recently as Corporate Controller.

D. Nathan Meehan has joined Baker Hughes as VP, Reservoir Technology and Consulting. Meehan will lead the company’s reservoir engineering, reservoir consulting and hydrocarbon development activities, including the company’s newly acquired GCA and GMI businesses.

John Edward Chance died May 1, 2008, in Lafayette, Louisiana, at the age of 84. He was born in Hardin County, Texas, on Jan. 18, 1924, and earned a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Texas. He served in the US Army during WWII, and was awarded the Purple Heart after being wounded at the Battle of the Bulge. Chance began his career with Sun Oil Co., and then founded John E. Chance & Associates Inc. in 1957 and Survey Boats Inc. some years later. Chance received numerous industry awards during his career. He was honored to be named LAGCOE Looey in 2005 and to the Times of Acadiana Hall of Fame for Business Achievement in 2000.
