Emerson has created a new division to serve the remote measurement and control markets. The Remote Automation Solutions division combines Emerson’s Bristol, Fisher, Daniel, and Mobrey remote technology products and services into one larger business. The new division will continue to offer flow computers, remote terminal units, presets, instruments, and engineering services under the Bristol, Bristol ControlWave, FloBoss ROC, and Danload product brands. The new division will be headquartered in Watertown, Conn., with manufacturing locations in Watertown; Marshalltown, Iowa; Pickering, UK; and Nuevo Laredo, Mexico.

Varel international has acquired Pendemak Industries, the company’s long-time Canadian-based drill bit distributor. Pendemak will be known as Varel Rock Bits Canada. Former president of Pendemak Industries, Rod MacKenzie, will continue on with the title of VP, sales and operations.

Six LeTourneau groups have joined to form LeTourneau Technologies, Inc. The new organization’s focus will continue to be on turnkey design and manufacturing capabilities for the mining, oil and gas drilling, offshore, power control and distribution, forestry and steel markets. The LTI commercial businesses include LTI Drilling Systems (formerly LEWCO), manufacturer of oil and gas drilling equipment; LTI Forestry Products; LTI Mining Products, (formerly LeTourneau Equipment Group); LTI Offshore Products (formerly LeTourneau Marine Group), supplier of jack-up rigs; LTI Power Systems (formerly OEM Power Systems); and LTI Steel Products (formerly LeTourneau Steel Group).

Oilfield services provider AlMansoori Specialized Engineering (MSE) will acquire the tubing-conveyed perforation (TCP) division of the Egyptian-based Energy Inc. The acquisition marks MSE’s third venture into the Egyptian market. In July 2006 the company acquired the Cairo-based service company Gulf Petroleum Investments. Also, MSE has totally acquired American Safety AlMansoori. MSE, which was originally a 51% partner in the company, acquired the remaining 49% from American Safety Services Inc.

Avantium Technologies B.V. has announced the expansion of its R&D facilities in Amsterdam. The expansion will double its capacity with the addition of 27,000 sq ft of laboratory and office space. It will start using the new facilities by the first quarter of 2008.

IHRDC announced a licensing agreement with Dominion Exploration and Production, Inc. for the internet delivery of IHRDC’s International Petroleum Industry Multimedia System (IPIMS) e-learning program for the oil and gas industry. This learning resource, centered around upstream E&P technology, is licensed by over 55 companies worldwide, and won a Corporate Award for Excellence from the U.S. Distance Learning Association.

The Well Control School announced the opening of a new training facility in Saudi Arabia, located in the Shahig Company building in Faisalya Dammam. This facility will offer instructor-led and computer-based well-control training.

Bristow Group Inc., a provider of helicopter services and production management services to the offshore energy industry, has agreed to purchase 100% of the stock of Helicopter Adventures, Inc., a flight training provider, for about $15 million plus debt of approximately $5 million. The flight school will be renamed Bristow Academy Inc. Helicopter Adventures is the only helicopter flight school approved to provide helicopter training to Commercial Pilot level both by the US FAA and the European Joint Aviation Authority.

Expert Riser Solutions is expanding and upgrading its facility in Port Fourchon, Louisiana. The expansion, spurred by growth in the deepwater arena, increases the company’s acreage from 25 to 50 acres, giving them the largest leasehold position on Slip B with 1,100 ft of waterfront access. Included is the addition of 17.5 acres to Expert’s 25-acre facility, plus an additional 7.5 acres on the northern part of Slip B, with 400-ft of bulkhead access.Transpara Corp. and Invensys Process Systems announced a global partnership through which Invensys will become a global reseller and certified implementer for Transpara’s Visual KPI operations intelligence software.

Dan-Loc, LLC, has acquired Dan-Loc Bolt and Gasket from DL Industries, LP, in a transaction sponsored by Laud Collier & Company along with company management. Investors in Dan-Loc include Argosy Investment Partners III, L.P., Boston Projects, Inc., InvestAmerica, and several private investors. Freestone Partners, First Capital and certain other existing owners of DL Industries retain ownership in the new company.

BJ Services Company Ltd. acquired Aberdeen-based Norson Services Ltd (Norson), a division of Norson Group Ltd. Norson provides international services in subsea pipeline testing and pre-commissioning services, umbilical testing services, chemical cleaning, hydraulic and lube oil flushing and process services to the construction, offshore and marine markets. The Norson Group’s hydraulic company, Norson Power Ltd, is not included in the acquisition and will remain with the Norson Group.

Electromagnetic Geoservices AS (emgs) is discontinuing its proceedings in the High Court of London against OHM which alleged infringement of emgs’ patents relating to seabed logging. emgs has also agreed to pay £50,000 towards OHM’s costs in defending this action.

MPU Offshore Lift ASA (MPU) will construct the concrete hull of the MPU Heavy Lifter for a Dutch joint-venture consisting of Hattum en Blankevoort BV and BAM Civiel BV. The construction will take place in the dry-dock of Keppel Verolme in Rotterdam, beginning in July 2007. A mock-up was successfully cast and tested under the supervision of experts from Sintef in Norway and Intron and the University of Delft in The Netherlands. The vessel will be the first that has been tailor-made for single-lift removal and installation of platforms in the North Sea and worldwide.
