Hartley Duncan, NACE-certified coatings inspector, has joined The Bayou Companies as a consultant for special projects and coatings. He brings more than 30 years of experience in the coatings and linings industry. He is serving as vice chair of the CEAC Committee of NACE International.

Grant Prideco has appointed Lias “Jeff” Steen as VP of Human Resources. Steen will office at the company’s Houston headquarters. During the past 20 years, he has served an active role in the oil and gas industry. Most recently, he was responsible for the management of the Legal Department, Human Resources Department, QHSE Department and employee training at ReedHycalog.

FMC Technologies, Inc., has appointed Peter D. Kinnear president and COO. In addition to managing the company’s Energy Systems businesses, he will lead its FMC FoodTech and Airport Systems businesses and the corporate information technology, human resources and procurement functions. He also serves as chairman of the US National Committee of the World Petroleum Council.

London-based energy data analysts Infield Systems Ltd appointed Owen Williams as analytical services manager. He will manage the company’s team of analysts and researchers, publish market and technical reports and develop new supply and demand models and databases for the offshore oil and gas industry. Previously, Owen was a senior analyst specializing in the upstream oil and gas and renewable energy industries.

READ Well Services appointed Andy Jones as its first full-time staff QHSE advisor. Based in Aberdeen, he will take a major role in quality and HSE. Jones joins the company from Fugro Robertson. Previously, he worked in mud-logging in Chad, Libya, Holland, Denmark, Senegal and Kenya, and as a wellsite geologist in Trinidad, Armenia and the North Sea.

David E. Roberts, Jr., joined Marathon Oil Corp. as senior VP of business development. Roberts previously served as executive VP/ managing director for BG Group with responsibility for Asia and the Middle East. He oversaw the $4-billion Karachaganak development in Kazakhstan. Prior to joining BG, Roberts served as advisor to the vice chairman of ChevronTexaco Corp.

Enventure Global Technology appointed Antonio Rana as business development manager in Asia Pacific. Working out of Enventure’s office in Indonesia, Rana will support technical and business development activities in Indonesia, Thailand and Viet Nam. Rana has more than 30 years of oil and gas experience with Halliburton, Cooper Cameron, AVA and Dresser Oil Tools and Schlumberger. Additionally, the company has named Wael El-Mofty as general manager for Saudi Arabia. El-Mofty has 20 years of oil and gas experience with various oil and gas service companies.

Acteon has named Kevin Burton to the newly created position of VP, technology. The company aims to establish several new business lines and technologies by utilizing the expertise within the group. Previously, Burton worked for WS Atkins, UDI Group Ltd and Vetco Gray.

Subsea company CSL appointed oil and gas technology professional David Ellix to its management team. He comes to CSL from ITF, the UK oil and gas technology leadership organization, where he was managing director. Prior to taking charge of ITF in 2000, he spent 10 years with Amerada Hess, managing technology and oilfield developments.

Kerr-McGee Corp. named Kurt McCaslin managing director of Brazil operations, responsible for development of the shallow-water Chinook field offshore Brazil. McCaslin joined the company in 1980 as a petroleum engineer and has since held a variety of positions. Chinook field has an estimated resource range of 250 – 450 million boe.

Fugro Robertson Inc. added Serguei Goussev to its staff of US-based consulting geologists and geophysicists. With 30 years of geophysical and exploration experience, Goussev spent the past 10 years with GEDCO working on gravity and magnetic data enhancement and interpretation.

InterMoor Inc. added Tom Bauer as lead structural engineer and Kent Longridge as lead mooring engineer. Bauer has 15 years of experience in the offshore industry and will lead structural engineering efforts on the company’s new projects and existing offshore structures. Longridge has 13 years of industry experience and will lead mooring engineering efforts on assigned projects and be responsible for quality control of all mooring and installation analysis. 

The American Geological Institute announced Dr. Robert J. Weimer as the recipient of the 2006 Legendary Geoscience Award. Established in 1999, the award is presented to a geoscientist who has demonstrated a long history of scientific achievement and exceptional service to the geoscience profession. Weimer began his career at Union Oil in Utah in 1949 and became a consulting geologist in 1954. He is a professor emeritus at the Colorado School of Mines.
