Alison B. Whiteley joined Dominion Exploration and Production, Inc., in the newly-created position of managing director, Planning and Engineering. Whiteley has more than 20 years of oil and gas experience, from roustabout to senior manager. Prior to joining Dominion, she served as senior manager of business development for EOG Resources in Houston.

Varel International has appointed Graham Mensa-Wilmot as VP of engineering and research for the PDC (polycrystalline diamond compact) Business Unit. He will be responsible for managing all engineering, design, and application of fixed cutter products for the company’s PDC bits, manufactured in Houston and in Tarbes, France. Mensa-Wilmot has 20 years of experience in drilling research and technology development. He joins Varel following 16 years of PDC experience with two other major drill bit companies.

Peter Beaumont-Smith has joined Team Energy Resources Ltd, an Acteon company, as well integrity business manager. Team Energy supplies personnel to the offshore industry. Well integrity management services is a new area for the company. Beaumont-Smith was formerly well integrity coordinator for ConocoPhillips in the North Sea.

Denby Auble has joined Geotrace as manager of innovations, Marine & Depth Imaging, based in Houston. Previously, Denby was a VP at Reservoir Technologies. His experience includes field operations in land and marine acquisition and data processing.

Red Spider Technology, a provider of well intervention, flow control and completion equipment, has appointed Hans Kristian Hegland as general manager of the company’s Norwegian subsidiary, Red Spider Technology AS. His role is to develop and grow the company’s business in Scandinavia. Hegland has spent the last eight years with Schlumberger in Norway, where he was instrumental in the growth of that company’s Oilphase downhole sampling business.

Daniel J. Rudroff was appointed president of Houston-based Welker Flow Measurement Systems Inc. He will be responsible for the company’s gas and liquid meter skid fabrication operations as well as the introduction of natural gas proving systems, flare gas metering systems and energy metering systems. Rudroff has over 25 years of experience in flow measurement technology and fabrication.

Alessandro Terenghi has been appointed president of Alfa Laval Inc., based in Richmond, Va. Terenghi joined Alfa Laval in 1982 as a sales engineer for the former Thermal Business Area in Monza, Italy. In 1997, he became managing director of Alfa Laval Artec in Alonte. Most recently, Terenghi was managing director of Alfa Laval Italy and finally managing director of the Alfa Laval Adriatic region, comprising Italy, Greece, Albania, Malta and the former Yugoslavian countries.

Veritas DGC Inc. appointed Vincent M. Thielen as VP, business development and Dennis S. Baldwin as VP, corporate controller. Previously, Thielen was the VP, corporate controller, a position he held since September 2003. Baldwin joined Veritas in June 2005 as chief financial officer for the company’s North America/ South America region. Before that, he was corporate controller for Universal Compression Holdings Inc.

Nigel Heywood and Neil Alderman, both recognized experts in applied rheology and slurry handling, have joined BHR Group. The two were formerly with Warren Spring Laboratory, and have also worked for AEA Technology plc and Aspen Technology. Both have more than 20 years of experience in all aspects of processing and handling rheologically complex fluids, such as drilling muds, hydrates, and catalysts.

W&T Offshore, Inc. has promoted Reid Lea to executive VP and manager of corporate development. Lea was previously the company’s CFO, and he is also a petroleum engineer. His new responsibilities will be primarily in the areas of acquisition and divestitures. Replacing Lea will be Stephen Landry, who will serve as VP and CFO. Landry was previously with Jefferies and Company as an investment banker engaged primarily in the area of exploration and production.

Claus Chur of KCA DEUTAG has been elected 2006 chairman of the International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC). Chur is a member of the KCA DEUTAG board, and is director-Europe/ Middle East/ Russia, based in Bad Bentheim, Germany. Robert Long was elected IADC vice chairman. He is president, CEO and a member of the board of directors of Transocean, Inc. John Lindsay was re-elected as secretary-treasurer. He is VP, US Land Operations, for Helmerich & Payne International Drilling Co. Lee Hunt, IADC president, and Brian Petty, senior vice president, were also re-elected.
