Grant Prideco, Inc., has realigned its Tubular Technology and Services business unit, integrating its Marine Products and Services business unit and its XL Systems product line. David Black has been appointed President of Tubular Technology. He has been VP-Operations for ReedHycalog since its acquisition by Grant Prideco in December 2002. Tubular Technology designs, manufactures and markets a complete line of premium connections and associated premium tubular products and accessories. XL Systems produces and installs large-diameter threaded marine conductors and caissons for use in offshore drilling and structural applications.

Stupp Bros., Inc., elected John P. Stupp, Jr., president. He had been executive VP and COO of SBI, and remains president of the Stupp Corp. Pipe Manufacturing Division in Baton Rouge, La. He has been with the company since 1974. R. Philip Stupp, Jr., was elected secretary and assistant treasurer. He remains executive VP of SBI and president of Hammert's Iron Works, a building steel contractor in St. Louis. He has been with the company since 1986. Robert P. Stupp was elected chairman of the board. Active with the company since 1953 and president of Stupp Bros. since 1989, he represents the fourth generation in this family business founded in 1856.

Ed Smalley joined CTES, L.P., a Varco International affiliate, as VP of marketing and business development. He is responsible for marketing CTES products, engineering projects and services, and brings over 23 years of experience in the exploration and production industry to his new position. Smalley previously served as business development director for the Gas Technology Institute, Houston, responsible for the commercialization of emerging E&P technology.

Sherri Scott joined Varel International as senior marketing specialist. In this position, Scott will lead marketing and communications efforts for Varel, a manufacturer and distributor of roller cone and polycrystalline diamond compact cone drilling bits. She previously served four years in the marketing/ communications department for the Society of Petroleum Engineers.

Jon L. Thompson, president of ExxonMobil Exploration Co., and VP of Exxon Mobil Corp., retires in May 2004, after more than 41 years of service. It is expected that the board of directors will appoint A. T. (Tim) Cejka as president, ExxonMobil Exploration Co. and a VP of the corporation effective. Cejka is currently an executive VP for ExxonMobil. J. L. (Johnny) Hall, currently VP, Geoscience, ExxonMobil Development Co., becomes an executive VP for ExxonMobil.

A native of Jacksonville, Florida, Thompson assumed his current position, which includes worldwide responsibility for exploration, with the formation of ExxonMobil Exploration Co. in December 1999. Before the merger of Exxon and Mobil in November 1999, Thompson had the same responsibilities as president of Exxon Exploration Company since 1991.

International well construction, performance and management firm The Peak Group appointed Matt Abell as performance engineering manager in the Houston office. Abell will be working with various operators on an international scale to help implement performance management software, tools and processes to improve well construction performance.

Mitchell J. Provost and Kevin M. Raatz joined engineering consulting firm EDG Inc. Provost was named a project manager and Raatz a project engineer. Provost previously served as a senior project engineer with Atlantia Offshore Ltd, where he participated in the management of tension leg platform projects. Raatz served as an independent contractor, supporting leading industry projects, including Total's “Matterhorn” TLP field development.

Steven E. Larson was appointed VP of Reservoir Description Services of Geotrace's Houston office. He joined Geotrace in October 2001, and was previously director of AVO in Houston. Larson has 27 years of experience in the oil and gas industry and has served as executive VP of EPIC Geophysical and a VP of Grant-Tensor Geophysical Corp.

Ted D. Garner joins Compressco Field Services as VP, engineering, and brings over 35 years of global experience as an engineer and manager in both the onshore and offshore petroleum industry. He most recently served as VP for CET Energy Corp. of Houston.

Larry D. Brady, chairman and CEO of UNOVA, Inc., was appointed a Class II director for Baker Hughes Inc., filling the position vacated by the retirement of Richard D. Kinder. Brady has served as chairman of UNOVA since 2001, and as CEO since 2000. He was president of FMC Corp. from 1993 to 1999.

Robert R. Sartain joined H.J. Gruy and Associates, Inc., as VP of the international oil and gas consulting business. He has 23 years of experience in various technical positions for ConocoPhillips.

Nuevo Energy Co. appointed Michael S. Wilkes as CFO. He has been interim CFO since December 2003.
