Forged-steel crankshafts
LeTourneau Ellis Williams Company (LEWCO) introduced a line of balanced forged steel replacement crankshafts to fit major brands of mud pumps having input ratings of 1,300, 1,600, or 2,200 hp. The components can help extend pump life by greatly reducing vibration and noise. The forged steel construction for the crankshafts eliminate the problem of microscopic cracking, which can lead to failure in a porous cast-iron crankshaft.
Energy Atlas
The World Energy Atlas 2004 is a cartographic information source for the oil and gas industry, containing 128 mapping plates and over 264 full-color pages. The Atlas details all major oil and gas fields and pipelines, gas processing and storage facilities, deepwater fields, oil refineries by capacity, LNG facilities, including those under construction, planned or speculative, tanker terminals by DWT, with detailed topography. The volume includes new plates detailing Iraq, Syria, Kuwait, Bangladesh, India's Krishna-Godavari basin, China's Bo Hai Gulf, Indonesia (Sarawak to Brunei and East Kalimantan basin), Thailand (Gulf of Thailand and JCA), Vietnam's Rang Dong area, Northwest Shelf of Australia, Argentina's Neuquen basin and Bolivia. A CD-rom is included.
Low-flow metering pumps
Moyno, Inc. offers the Moyno Metering Pump for economical and efficient performance with low-flow liquids in a wide range of processing applications. The progressing cavity design results in a smooth flow free from pulsations and variations in velocity and volume and prevents material waste or mixture imbalance. Additional features include: sealed universal joints; low power consumption; on-site maintenance; no valves to clog, stick, or vapor lock; pressures to 300 psi; flowrates from 1 to 190 gph; and a wide variety of construction materials. The pump is available in bare-shaft, close-coupled, and motorized configurations.
PDC for abrasive formations
 Hughes Christensen introduced Genesis XT, an extension of their Genesis product line that expands the application envelope of PDC drilling into harder and more abrasive formations. Engineers have incorporated a new generation of cutters and patented depth-of-cut control technology to increase bit stability and durability in demanding applications. For the Odyssey Series Cutters, the interface between the tungsten carbide substrate and the synthetic diamond table were optimized to improve cutter toughness. In addition, layered diamond table technology has been applied to provide superior abrasion resistance. SmoothCut bits use EZSteer depth-of-cut control technology for general-purpose applications to provide smoother, more stable drilling, especially through interbedded formations. This improves bit longevity and overall drilling efficiency.
Casing and tubing heads
 R&M Energy Systems offers Hercules above-ground and submersible casing and tubing heads for use in PC, ESP and beam pump applications. These wellheads feature a slip element with a positive mechanical stop that limits slip travel and reduces hoop stress in the wellhead body. It also transfers as much weight as the threaded connection can withstand without crushing the casing ID below API drift diameter. They also feature pressure-assisted, contoured packing for positive pack-off with minimum compression. Other features include working pressures of 1,500, 2,000 or 3,000 psi, non-restrictive flow through side outlet, flanged or threaded models, and slip, mandrel or threaded suspension.
Produced-water analyzers
The Infracal TOG/TPH Analyzers from Wilks Enterprise, Inc., were designed for on-site infrared analysis of total oil and grease (TOG) and total petroleum hydrocarbon (TPH) concentration levels in produced water on offshore platforms. Typical analysis time is under 15 minutes, including extraction. Models are available for a wide variety of extracting solvents. The Infracal Model HATR-T is recommended for solvents that contain hydrocarbons, and the Model CVH with a 10mm quartz cuvette cell is choice for an infrared-transparent solvent. All Infracal analyzers are portable (operable from a 12-V DC power supply) and weigh less than 5 lb, and have no moving parts requiring alignment or adjustment.
BOP fluid
Houghton Offshore introduces Stack Magic ECO blowout preventer fluid. The product provides improved lubrication, biodegradation and toxological properties that meet tighter Norwegian “yellow zone” standards for discharge and North Sea environmental regulations. Formulated for hydraulic wellhead and deepwater multiplex control system, the ECO concentrate is shown in corrosion and emersion tests to give 16 times as much corrosion protection as its predecessor. It is also 10 times less toxic and provides five times the lubricity than previous formulations. Suitable for many different combinations of metal and seals, the product is stable in sea water and resistant to micro-organisms.
