The ExxonMobil board of directors elected senior VP Rex Tillerson president of the corporation and a member of its board of directors. Lee Raymond continues his position as chairman and CEO. Tillerson was elected to his previous position in August 2001. 

AmerCable Inc. named Steve Dillard as VP/general manager of its newly formed Oil & Gas Business Unit. Previously he was VP of operations at Cooper Energy Services, a division of Cooper Cameron. 

 

Gulf Publishing Company names Associate Publisher for World Oil

 
 

BradyKevin Brady has been named Associate Publisher of World Oil magazine. Prior to joining World Oil, Brady, 38, was the Corporate Marketing Manager for Precision Drilling Corp. in Houston. While there he managed an eight-person team and a $3-million-dollar marketing communications budget. He also served as Marketing Communications Manager for Halliburton/ Sperry-Sun. Prior to moving into the marketing communications business, Kevin was a program manager as well as senior field engineer for Sperry-Sun. 

In addition to his marketing/ communications experience, Kevin has written and presented several papers for various petroleum industry professional associations. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Professional Geology from Louisiana State University and his Masters of Business Administration in Marketing from the University of Houston.

 

Philip Watts has stepped down as chairman of the board and managing director of Shell Transport and Trading Co., p.l.c. Jeroen van der Veer, president of Royal Dutch Petroleum, will succeed him as chairman of the Committee of Managing Directors. Lord Oxburgh has been appointed interim non-executive chairman of the company. Malcolm Brinded has been appointed a director and managing director of the company and will serve as vice chairman of the Committee of Managing Directors. Walter van de Vijver resigned as chief executive of Shell's Exploration and Production business, and his responsibilities will be assumed by Brinded. Rob Routs, a member of the Board of Management of Royal Dutch Petroleum Co., will assume Van der Veer's responsibility for the chemicals business. Judith Boynton will continue as a managing director of Shell Transport and Trading and as CFO. 

Noble Corp. announced that William C. (Kurt) Hoffman was named VP - Marketing of Noble Drilling Services Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary. Hoffman has been with Noble since 1991, most recently in the position of VP - Western Hemisphere Operations of Noble Drilling Services. Prior to that, Hoffman served in various management roles within Triton Engineering Services Co., also a wholly owned subsidiary of Noble. He has over 25 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. 

Thomas E. Stewart has been elected chairman of the board of STRONGER, Inc., a non-profit, multi-stakeholder organization whose purpose is to assist states in documenting oil and gas environmental regulations. A member of the board for the past two years, Stewart is executive VP of the Ohio Oil & Gas Assoc. Don Garvin was elected vice chairman of the STRONGER board. Garvin is legislative coordinator and lobbyist for the West Virginia Environmental Council. Lori Wrotenbery was named STRONGER secretary/ treasurer. 

The International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC) and ReedHycalog announced that Ray and Ann Brazzel were named 2004 Contractor of the Year during the IADC Spring Membership Conference. For almost 30 years, Ray and Ann Brazzel have owned and operated Bandera Drilling Co., Inc., and for 25 years they have been active in IADC. 

Vetco Gray and Offshore Systems announced that as a result of the merger of the Subsea Systems business of Offshore Systems with Vetco Gray, there have been several key assignment changes. Don Grierson will continue as president and CEO of Vetco Gray, headquartered in Houston. Gary Shaw was appointed senior VP, technology management. Shaw will also have responsibility for Subsea Projects. Norman Brammer will report to Shaw as senior VP of engineering and technology. Rune Stroemquist is VP, subsea engineering and technology. 

Bruce Crager is senior VP, strategic development and global account management. Barbara Thompson is appointed global account manager for ExxonMobil, Roger Martin is global account manager for BP, and Wayne Wallace is global account manager for ChevronTexaco. All three report to Crager. 

David Wollam is senior VP - controls. Ole Berg will continue as senior VP, Norway Operations. Rasmus Sunde will continue as president and CEO of Offshore Systems, headquartered in Norway. Christian Bakken has returned to Norway as senior VP, business acquisition of the newly formed Process & Facilities group of Offshore Systems. 

Myla Dixon was named marketing director for Foster Marketing Communications in Houston. Dixon joined the company in June 2002 as an account assistant, providing account services, media buying and electronic marketing support and market development for the oil and gas industry. 

Grant Prideco, Inc., appointed Matt Fitzgerald as senior VP and CFO. Fitzgerald joined Grant Prideco from Veritas DGC Inc., where he was executive VP, CFO and treasurer. Prior to joining Veritas in 2001, Fitzgerald was VP and controller of BJ Services Company. 

Unocal Corp. named James H. Painter senior VP, exploration and technology, for the company. Painter succeeds Christopher A. Wright, who will retire from Unocal later this year. Previously, Painter was VP, Exploration, for Devon Energy. Before the Ocean Energy merger with Devon, Painter was that company's senior VP of Gulf of Mexico and International Exploration and served as a member of the Ocean management team. 

JDR Cable Systems (Holdings) Ltd., a manufacturer of seismic umbilicals and cables for the oil and gas industry, named Robert A. Solberg as non-executive chairman of the board. Solberg is a former VP of Texaco. 

Susan Toalson was named the new director of the CEE Petroleum Extension Service (PETEX) of The University of Texas at Austin. Toalson was formerly director of the University's CEE Distance Education Center. 

Expro International Group PLC announced the appointment of Tim Eggar to the board as a non-executive director. Eggar is currently vice-chairman of corporate finance at ABN AMRO with responsibility for the integrated energy sector. He began his career with Hambros Bank and spent eight years with the European Banking Company. In 1979 he was elected Member of Parliament, becoming a member of the UK government in 1985. He held several ministerial roles, including Minister for Energy in the Department of Trade & Industry. In 1994 he was given a combined role as Minister for Industry and Energy, which he held until 1996. 

BJ Services Company promoted Gary Young to area operations manager - Latin America for BJ Tubular Services. Young is responsible for overseeing all the company's activities in the region, including financial, operational, quality assessment, and managing the division's bases in Trinidad, and in Macae and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
