 Two investment bankers with oilfield experience, who opened an independent investment bank in April 2003, have expanded their partnership with the addition of partners Leonard H. Paton and Raymond L. Brown to form Parks Paton, Hoepfl & Brown, LP (PPHB), an independent investment bank that offers financial advisory services to oilfield service companies. 

 Superior Energy Services, Inc., elected Enoch Dawkins to the company’s Board of Directors. Dawkins has nearly 40 years of experience in the energy industry. From 1991 until his retirement in 2003, Dawkins served as president of Murphy Exploration and Production Co.

 Miguel Bocco Jr., and William J. (Bill) Boyle joined the Americas business unit management team of Wood Group Engineering and Production Facilities, a division of John Wood Group PLC. Bocco is now VP of Strategic Development, Latin America. He has more than 20 years of broad experience in the oil and gas industry. Boyle’s new role is VP, North America and International. He has 19 years of oil and gas industry experience on five continents. 

 The Texas Railroad Commission has elevated Commissioner Victor Carrillo to chairman. Carrillo joined the Railroad Commission in February 2003, being appointed by Governor Rick Perry to fill the unexpired term of Tony Garza, who became US Ambassador to Mexico. 

 Irving Shipbuilding Inc. appointed Steven R. Hill as VP. He will work out of Houston and Halifax. Hill has 27 years in the oil and gas business, most recently as VP of Hyundai Heavy Industries Co., Ltd., responsible for EPIC strategies for deepwater projects. 

 CGG, a supplier of geophysical services and products to the oil and gas industry, announced several key appointments at its worldwide data processing centers. Finn Foldal was appointed manager of CGG’s Oslo processing center. Bruno Virlouvet is manager of the company’s Luanda processing center; Patrick André is manager of the Perth processing center; Atle Aamodt is manager of the Calgary processing center; Steve Raleigh was appointed manager of the London processing center; Cato Bolstad is manager of the Houston processing center; Michel Darbousset is VP of Data Processing & Reservoir Services for the Americas region; and Luc Schlumberger is VP of Multi-Client Surveys.

 Albert-Garaudy and Associates, Inc., named Richard “Mike” Akin as business development manager. He joins AGA following 28 years with ExxonMobil. The company also appointed Thomas D. Labiosa as senior project manager. Labiosa has spent over 30 years in the worldwide oil and gas industry.

 Charles Knobloch has been named interim CEO of Leading Edge Measurements, Inc., the world’s only commercial manufacturer of Terfenol-D, a magnetorestrictive smart metal used in Navy, agricultural and petroleum industry applications, specifically multi-phase flow meters. Previously he had a 22-year career with Conoco, working in the fields of seismic interpretation, modeling and processing.

 Tenaris S.A. elected Paolo Rocca chairman of its board of directors, a position left vacant following the death of Roberto Rocca in June 2003. Paolo Rocca, in addition to acting as chairman of the board, will continue as CEO of Tenaris. The board also appointed Lucio Bastianini, VP of San Faustín N.V., as a member. Tenaris is a global manufacturer of seamless, steel pipe products, and provider of pipe-handling, stocking and distribution services to the oil and gas, energy and mechanical industries and a regional supplier of welded steel pipes for gas pipelines in South America. 

 The International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC) gave three Distinguished Service Awards at its annual meeting in Houston in September. Stan Christman, drilling engineering advisor, Exxon Mobil Corp. (retired), was honored for his many contributions to the drilling industry and his long participation in IADC. Christman was intimately involved in the rapid advancement of deepwater drilling technology, working with floating drilling technology and safety management systems. He is co-founder of the Drilling Engineering Association and served as DEA’s chairman from 1985 to 1986. Richard H. Reiley, BP Americas (retired), was recognized for his work in developing drilling technology and enhancing operator-contractor relations, his longstanding advocacy of IADC and enthusiastic support of IADC, events and initiatives. He was a pioneer in the application of horizontal drilling, PDC bits, MWD/LWD, drilling waste injection, stuck pipe prevention, underbalance drilling, drilling with casing and expandable tubulars. Bill S. Person, VP of Industrial Relations, Rowan Companies, was honored for a dedicated career of service to the drilling industry, his leadership in IADC and many contributions enhancing health & safety practices in the drilling industry. 

 Massimo "Max" Ferraris has been confirmed as CEO of Sonsub Inc., as well as Saipem’s manager of the Subsea Robotics business line. Ferraris has also been confirmed as area manager, North Atlantic, for Saipem. Additionally, Robert Keith, a veteran of Sonsub since 1987, was appointed president of Sonsub. Keith most recently served as senior VP of Operations and Commercial following three years as regional manager of Sonsub’s business in Asia-Pacific. Greg McCavanagh was promoted to COO. B. J. Reid was promoted to VP of Engineering. Reid will oversee facility and marine systems engineering operations. Brian Head was named senior assets and procurement manager. 

 Fugro Chance Inc. promoted James Clarke to senior project manager for its Marine Construction Survey Group. Fugro offers advanced geotechnical, surveying, seismic, oceanographic, meteorological and positioning services. WO
