 The law firm of Fulbright & Jaworski L.L.P announced that Michael E. Arruda has joined as a partner. He has more than 20 years of experience in international oil and gas matters, and will be based in Hong Kong. His practice will emphasize oil, gas and other energy transactions in China and Central Asia.

 Shell Oil Co. has named Brian Malnak Vice President of Government Affairs, with responsibility for federal and state government relations. He will be based in Washington, D.C. Malnak most recently served as Staff Director on the US Senate Committee On Energy and Natural Resources.

 John Bryant has been appointed General Manager of UniTherm Systems’ FirePro line of passive fire-suppression systems. He will handle both direct sales and the establishment of a deal/distributor network. FirePro is a system that insulates critical components from exterior fire, allowing them to shut down flows or otherwise continue to function.

 Peak Well Management, an Aberdeen, Scotland-based specialist in well engineering, management and construction, has appointed Bob Lyons as Managing Director. Previously he worked for Enterprise Oil for 14 years, most recently as drilling manager in Brazil. Lyons also worked in the Far and Middle East, Italy and the North Sea.

 Knight Oil Tools has named Jeff Taylor as Gulf Coast Region Sales Manager. He has more than 20 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. Most recently, Taylor was Vice President and General Manager of Patterson Services. 

 Transocean Inc. has announced that David Crowley has joined TODCO as Vice President of Marketing. TODCO is a wholly owned subsidiary that provides contract oil and gas drilling services, focusing on the shallow waters of the Gulf of Mexico, and in the Gulf Coast inland marine region.

 ODS-Petrodata, Inc. announced the appointment of Steven Carter as Vice President, Consulting and Research. Carter, who has almost 20 years of upstream energy experience, replaces Gavin Strachan, who will continue work with the company on a part-time basis. Previously, Mr. Carter served as Vice President, Technology and General Manager for the company’s RigInsight Expert System. In his new position, he will be responsible for the direction and expansion of ODS-Petrodata’s consulting and research business.

 Superior Energy Services has announced the addition of four vice presidents to its executive team. Danny Young has been named Vice President of Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) and Corporate Services; Andy Rike has been appointed Vice President of the Coiled Tubing Division; Steve Batchelor is Vice President of Corporate Development; and Peter Fortier has been named Vice President of the Marine Division. Young was most recently HSE Manager for BP Amoco, where he worked for over 20 years. From 2000 to 2002, Rike was President of Technicoil USA Operations, a coiled tubing service company, and prior to that position he worked 22 years for Gulf Oil Co. Batchelor was CEO of CaseTech International before joining Superior Energy. Previously, he spent 22 years with Halliburton. Fortier was most recently Vice President of Domestic Sales for Tidewater Marine.

 Morrison R. Plaisance of Diamond Offshore Drilling Inc. has been named the International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC) 2003 Contractor of the Year. The award is sponsored by IADC and Grant Prideco’s ReedHycalog. Plaisance has more than 30 years of drilling experience and is currently Vice President of Team Solutions with Diamond Offshore.

 Geocom Resources Inc. appointed John E. Hiner to the Board of Directors and as President of the corporation. He has over 30 years of experience in resource exploration and management worldwide. Hiner has previously held positions with Phillips Petroleum and Champion Resources Inc.

 Mears/HDD, LLC and Tom Allen Construction Co. announced the combination of both companies’ horizontal directional drilling operations. Ted Foltz, a 20-year veteran of Mears, will become Vice President for field operations and equipment; Neil Smith becomes Vice President responsible for estimating, engineering and commercial aspects; and Adam Bosch becomes Vice President of Sales and Marketing.
