At IP, Louise Kingham will succeed Jeff Pym as director general. IP is currently negotiating a three-way merger with the Institute of Energy and Institute of Gas Engineers. In this position, she will be chief executive designate of the proposed “Energy Institute.”

BJ Tubular appointed Andy Elliott country operations manager – Indonesia. BJ Service’s Hassan Farshbaf was appointed country manager for Algeria with the Well Services Division-Europe & Africa Region. In his new role, Farshbaf oversees all aspects of BJ's operational, financial and business development initiatives in Algeria.

DEATHS

George Behrman Kitchel passed away on Oct. 9 at 93 years of age. Born in Alta Loma, Texas, on June 29, he grew up in Ada, Oklahoma, and graduated from Rice University in 1931 with a mechanical engineering degree. Kitchel was a pioneer in offshore drilling with Halliburton, Humble Oil and for many years with Kerr-McGee.
