Review and Forecast
World Oil's annual review of the past year and what lies ahead in 2004, now in its 78th year. Our statistics and analysis are gathered
from proprietary surveys from states, governments and operators worldwide. These reports are used by oilfield professionals and government agencies worldwide: |
North American gas outlook. Len Parent reviews gas-well drilling, gas prices, and supply and demand for the North American continent
for 2003 and offers his predictions for 2004. |
Crude oil price analysis. A top choice among price analysts, Matthew Simmons of Simmons & Co. Int'l, tries to make sense of recent
decisions, OPEC and the Iraq wildcard. |
Washington in 2003 2004. As reported by World Oil's capital city correspondent, John McCaughey, crafting of US energy
policy by an all-Republican led government should bring an interesting year, maybe even results, although recent events might argue otherwise. |
E&P spending forecast. Salomon Smith Barney's surveys provide comparative analysis and predictions for US, Canadian and worldwide
upstream capital expenditures. |
Canadian outlook. Calgary contributor Bob Curran provides his annual report on the past year and what activity looks like in the year
ahead from the perspective of a Canadian insider. |
US drilling forecast. Our expert editorial team will again labor hard into the night to produce an industry standard, World Oil's
US drilling forecast, complete with proprietary survey results, tables and charts. |
Several pages of statistics and analysis of the US rig count, oil production, and oil and gas reserves. |
There will also be several proprietary features that agencies such as DOE and API, as well as DeGolyer and McNaughton depend on World
Oil for, including US producing oil wells and producing gas wells on a state-by-state basis. |
Our popular drilling and producing depth records will reveal industry trends and bragging rights. |
International drilling. Managing/ International Editor Kurt Abraham asks government officials, oil company planners and others to help
produce a global drilling forecast for 2004. |
The international section will offer early 2003 results and 2004 predictions for global offshore drilling, as well as data and
analysis for world oil production rates. |
Technology for Production
Optimization |
Real-time data acquisition and control enhances production operations and reservoir management. Authors from BP and Schlumberger
describe how a real-time system securely communicates with a remote data management system to achieve streaming of high-quality data from existing and new downhole
monitoring devices, allowing event notification and remote advice for the control of wellsite functions. |
Non-damaging, self-diverting acid stimulations revive oil production. Schlumberger authors present a case study of how a new matrix
stimulation solution, developed for carbonate reservoirs that historically have presented challenges when stimulating with conventional methods, revived production in a
mature field. |
Petroleum Technology Digest. This popular feature is published in association with the Petroleum Technology Transfer Council. Progressing
cavity pumps insights from 14 years in a waterflood field, is authored by Tulsa-based Oak Resources, Inc. and Advanced Rotary Pump Systems. This PC pump
application story tells how lower installation costs and 5% to 35% lower electrical costs, relative to beam-pump units and electrical submersible pumps, saved the operator
substantial money for comparable production rates. |
