Vibration meter

A handheld vibration meter indicates the severity of a vibration even if the vibration is not physically evident. This allows users to have an early warning of an impending problem. They can monitor a vibration induced by a mechanical fault or they can assess the condition of a critical pump or motor, thus allowing corrective action to be taken before damage occurs. The meter can also be used for acceptance testing. It complies with ISO 2954 and ISO 10816. (Marine Vibrations)

USB ports

 Fig 1

The COU 105P PCI card comes with 5 type A USB 2.0 ports, each capable of moving data at 480 Mbps. The ports are fully backward compatible with USB 1.1 devices. With cascaded hubs, the five ports make it easy to connect as many as 127 USB 1.1 and 2.0 devices to this card. USB provides power to the bus, hence, many USB devices can operate without any additional power. Maximum cable length is 16.4 ft for 12 Mbps (USB 1.1) devices and 10 ft for 480 Mbps (USB 2.0) devices. The card is compatible with Windows 98/2000/ME/XP. (CyberResearch, Inc.)

Rod guides

Condor-S offers superior flow characteristics resulting in optimum pumping efficiency, while its wide vanes make for excellent stability. Its advanced design features allows increased production and decreased workover costs. It is manufactured from a complete line of engineered plastics enhanced with performance additives. The Condor-S guide is available in sizes 2 in. and 2.5 in., and with standard New Era and Patco brand materials. (R&M Energy Systems)

Buried service pinch valves

Series 75B features an extended stem for aboveground operation. The all-elastomer pinch sleeve isolates the metal body from the process fluid, extending service life and eliminating clogging and scaling. With its full port opening and drop-tight sealing capabilities, the valve is ideal for on/off service. (Red Valve)

Foam rubber

 Fig 2

Based on the ACTIFIRE technology, ACTIFOAM – a fire retardant and thermally insulating foam rubber – is effective for use as compressible water-tight seals for doors and hatches, and for sealing openings between partition walls and ceilings. The role of the ACTIFIRE technology is to ensure that during a fire, the ACTIFOAM will produce fire retardant material in such a volume so that major structural deformations or displacements will be effortlessly followed. As a result, the penetration will remain fire tight. (Beele Engineering B.V.)

Transit cases

The Road Warriors air- and water-tight transit cases are designed to protect contents. They feature a silicon, O-ring design that seals out water, salt air and dust. They offer military-specified, recessed, steel latches and three, spring-loaded, padded handles. They provide divider systems and lid organizers, customized to users’ specs. They can be locked for security purposes, and are available in 12 sizes and in a variety of colors. (Ameripak, Inc.)

Power calculator

The power calculator is a slide chart with conversion scales for electric power and heat. It is designed for engineers and related personnel to help in determining selection factors for uninterruptible power systems and precision air conditioning. It is ideal for “reality check” calculations and quick estimates. (Liebert Corp.)

Control pinch valve

Series 5400 features a full-port opening and a tough, abrasion-resistant elastomer sleeve. The sleeve is the only wetted part and contains no dead spaces where debris can build up and foul valve operation. Centerline closure maintains a smooth, venture flow when throttled. The heavy-duty frame is isolated from the process and can easily withstand harsh environments. It is available in sizes from 1 in. to 36 in. (Red Valve)

Injection system

 Fig 3

Model EKO is a fully self-contained, solar-powered injection system. It features a high-efficiency, seal-less diaphragm metering pump that can inject corrosion inhibitors up to 72 gal/d against 3,700 psi. Providing consistent uninterrupted operation, the pump requires less than 160 W of DC power that is provided by a solar panal array, battery pack, and controls – all supplied in a “ready-to-run” package. The unit has an all stainless steel pump skid with rain covers and seal-tight enclosures, and can be configured to user requirements including remote control and injection-rate feedback. The leak-tight pump has two PTFE diaphragms that isolate the process fluid, providing double containment with zero-leakage, run-dry tolerance, and overload protection. (AMERICAN LEWA, Inc.)

Digital temperature switch

Series TS is an economical and viable replacement for mechanical thermostats and bulb and capillary temperature switches in heating and cooling applications. It offers a low-cost feature set, digital indication and easy operation. Standard features include a large, 3-digit display, 16A SPDT relay output, 110 VAC input power, 3-ft temperature sensor, NEMA 4 enclosure, adjustable hysteresis and defrost cycle programming. (Love Controls Division of Dwyer Instruments, Inc.)

Casing plunger lift

This casing plunger lift unloads water out of watered out gas wells. It features a pressure-activated valve that is closed using wellbore hydrastatic pressure. Formation pressure then drives the tool and fluid to the surface. The tool eliminates associated lifting costs or timer boxes. It is ideal for mature fields. (Natural Lift Systems)

Pressure calibrator

Meri-Cal II is a highly accurate and portable microprocessor-based pressure sensing device for measuring differential, gauge, vacuum or absolute pressure. It is available in two models – 3600 and 3610. Both models have dual-sensor capability, allowing simultaneous measurement of both low differential and high static pressures. They have an accuracy of ±0.025% full scale with an easy to read display and 5 digits of measurement resolution that can read out in any of 11 engineering units. They are computer calibrated and traceable to NIST. Model 3610 incorporates a data logging mode and on-board memory. (Meriam Instrument)

Remote monitoring device

The newest addition to the Bullhorn family of wireless remote monitoring products is APM2AM. This device is very flexible, and it is ideal for general, cathodic protection, and test point monitoring. It has two channels that can accept analog and digital signals. It can be set to report alarm conditions or pre-configured “heath-check” intervals. It is sized for smaller point count applications and provides a cost effective way to monitor remote equipment. The unit comes standard with a lithium battery capable of 1500 transmissions. It is available in an anodized aluminum enclosure and/or with the gel cell battery with solar or AC charger. (American Innovations)

Jetting assembly

To complement the Tornado Pro software, Tornado Tool was developed. It is a specialized jetting assembly that enhances the coiled tubing cleanout process. It combines switchable forward and rearward facing jetting nozzles as a new element in the cleanout process, specifically aimed at exploiting the wiper trip concept. Coiled tubing operators maintain the pull-out-of-hole speed and flowrate that the computer model predicts will keep the sand above the jetting assembly, and avoid “bridging” on the way out of the hole. The computer software simulator models the sand-washing process for various hole geometries and angles, pumping rates and fluid types. (BJ Services Co.)

Fracturing tool

AccuFrac PC is a Widows-based application that controls and monitors fracturing and mixing devices from a computer. The program can support up to four monitors, allowing information to be displayed from a single computer. The program enables users to create customized alarms and messages to suit their needs. For greater functionality, a data acquisition package is available as an optional accessory. This gives the user the ability to record data from fracturing operations and print customized reports. (Stewart & Stevenson)

Wireless solutions

The Infinite Telemetry System (a.k.a. the it system) is designed for land and transition zone seismic data acquisition. The system utilizes a patented cellular radio technology designed to network an infinite amount of cable-free sensors and to telemeter the data to the Central Control Unit for recording on to storage media within the shot cycle. The system’s remote acquisition units each have four channels. The it system is suitable for multi-component acquisition, but it is also designed for conventional sensor arrays or for single sensor acquisition. (Vibtech)
