John Augustine joined Houston-based Paragon Engineering Inc. as senior VP. He will be responsible for administering its engineering and design capabilities. His duties will also include quality assurance and control issues.

Hibbitt, Karlsson and Sorensen, Inc., appointed Dr. Ken Short marketing VP.

Masayuki Hammyo was promoted from executive VP to president and representative director of NKK, succeeding Yoichi Shimogaichi, who became chairman and representative director. Former chairman Shunkichi Miyoshi assumed the duties of honorary adviser.

 
 

 World Oil is now accepting nominations for The Next Generation Awards program, recognizing leading technology and people that will guide the industry in the coming generation. Nida E. Woodfall of Continental Resources was appointed to serve on the Illinois Petroleum Resources board, filling the unexpired term of Tom Nichols.

Ivan Replumaz joined the Technip-Coflexip group as business and operations senior VP of the offshore division.

ASME International (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) named Virgil R. Carter executive director, succeeding the retiring David L. Belden.

Vince Cuevas, Gil Weisberger and Walt Hampton, founding partners of New Iberia, Louisiana-based Allen Tank, joined Mustang Engineering.

John Cramer joined TGS-NOPEC Geophysical Co. as program development manager for the Gulf of Mexico.

ExxonMobil Gas Marketing Co. appointed Roberta A. (Robbi) Luxbacher director, Europe Gas Marketing, ExxonMobil International, Ltd. J. J. (Judy) Kelly became Americas VP and William M. (Bill) Colton became Asia Pacific VP.

Friede Goldman Halter, Inc., appointed its current restructuring advisor John Alford to the additional post of president and CEO.

Cheryl Collarini assumed the role of president of Collarini Corp., while Dennis Jordan became president of Collarini Engineering.

New board members for The Society of Petroleum Evaluation Engineers for 2002 include President, Marilyn Wilson, H. J. Gruy and Associates, Inc.; VP, Mark Doering, Classic Oil & Gas; Secretary Treasurer, Charles Gleeson, Charles Gleeson, Inc., and Past President J. D. Hughes, Independent.

American Shuttle Tankers L.L.C. appointed Peter Lovie as business development VP.

Kim Fawvor, regulatory foreman for Apache Corp., was recognized by MMS Director R. M. "Johnnie" Burton with the Corporate Leadership Award at the annual MMS Industry Awards program and luncheon in Houston on May 11. He was instrumental in developing and refining Apache’s Safety and Environmental Management Program (SEMP) for its operations in the Gulf of Mexico to enhance worker safety and minimize environmental impacts.

John B. "Jack" Thomas was named geoscience director of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists. He will oversee the activities of education, scientific publications and the BULLETIN, as well as AAPG Datapages.

PPI Technology Services appointed Richard (Rich) Smiley as senior operations manager in Houston, Texas. He will be responsible for all wellsite activities and project management operations. Gary Whitely has been appointed completion technology manager, responsible for the newly formed completion inspection and surveillance service offered by PPI.

Dominique Maillard, director general of energy and raw materials at the French Ministry of Economy, Finance and Industry, was elected chairman of the governing board of Paris-based International Energy Agency.

Patrick Hiebert, Cleve Hogarth and Bill Lane will lead Quorum Business Solutions’ new office in Calgary, Alberta.

Global Industries, Ltd. appointed William J. Doré, Jr., investor relations VP, overseeing capital fund raising activities, communications to the investment community and company communications, including newsletters and brochures.

Graeme Coutts was appointed president of Western Hemisphere for Expro Group, based in Houston, Texas. Mike Martindale is Eastern Hemisphere director, based in Reading, UK.

Ken Becker joined Ziff Energy as offshore VP, responsible for managing and expanding the firm’s worldwide offshore benchmarking studies and consulting services.

Wood Group Pressure Control promoted Ian Milne to the newly created position of business development VP, responsible for new product development and international coordination of U.S.-based client accounts.

Wade Smith was promoted to electric line district manager for Superior Energy Services’ Pearland, Texas, location. He joined the electric line division in 1993 as a cased-hole engineer, based out of Harvey, Louisiana.

Bill Schrom joined Geotrace Technologies as president, responsible for business strategy and alliances.

Elementis Specialties appointed Florence Boulenger southern European sales manager for special markets. Her territory includes France, Spain, Portugal, Italy and Mediterranean. Katherine A. Nicastro was appointed export-distribution manager.

Gary McGilvray was named CEO of DeGolyer and MacNaughton, replacing the retiring board chairman and CEO Charles Bryan. McGilvray was named president in March 2001 following his service as eastern hemisphere operations executive VP.

US Inspection Services promoted Mark Koehler to regional manager of its Ohio Valley district. He will oversee all aspects of sales and operations for USI’s Marietta, Charleston WV and Cincinnati offices.

EOTT Energy Partners, L.P. elected Dana R. Gibbs, president of EOTT Energy Corp. as CEO as well, replacing Stanley C. Horton, who will remain board chairman.

R. P. "Ron" Barmby joined Ventus as VP production and engineering. Richard Moorman and Stephen Lau joined the firm as senior engineer and senior coordinator, respectively.

Brian Soliday joined RMSI as American sales VP in its new office in Boulder, Colorado, focusing on the increasing demand for its GIS and spatial solutions originating out of the Americas. WO
