Portable gas detector

The iTX multi-gas monitor can transform from a single-gas, go/no-go monitor to a six-gas datalogging instrument. It offers flexibility in gas monitoring equipment, while increasing cost efficiencies through innovative features that include the "Quick Cal" calibration technique and the DS1000 Docking Station, an instrument management system. The unit features a rugged, 24-gauge, stainless steel housing and weighs only 18.5 oz. Also included are a backlit dot matrix LCD that simultaneously displays all gases monitored, ultra-bright visual alarms and a powerful 90-dB audible alarm. The system provides 19 hr of continuous run time. (Industrial Scientific Corp.)

Valve actuators

Fig 1

Bettis WellGuard actuators are suitable for on/offshore installations and ideal for use in H2S and CO2 applications. The control fluid-powered linear actuators are used in conjunction with Bettis-designed valve bonnets to provide open-and-close control for major brands of API 6A, through-conduit, reverse-acting gate valves. These diaphragm and piston actuators can be used with API 6D and ANSI B16.34 valves that are equipped with Bettis-designed bonnets. They are capable for use with valve sizes ranging from 1-3/16-in. to 4-1/16-in. API. (Emerson Process Management)

Pipeline inspection lamp

Spectroline Maxima 3500M is an ultra-powerful, ultraviolet lamp that detects pipelines’ surface defects, corrosion and contamination. It features a state-of-the-art, micro-discharge light bulb that contains less than 3% of the amount of hazardous mercury found in standard, high intensity discharge bulbs. The lamp includes a 12-V, rechargeable battery that will operate the lamp for 2 hr. The DC battery pack can be attached to the ballast housing, making it easy to transport. The lamp can throw a UV light beam up to 50 ft. (Spectronics Corp.)

Sampling probes

Fig 1

The 29 Model 710 and 7 Model 210 probes can operate at low ambient temperatures down to – 32_C. The availability of electric operation enables the samplers to be deployed in remote pipeline sites having no plant air. The probes are being tested in Romania at various pipeline distribution sites. They may replace spot or tank sampling. The probes utilize positive displacement to take a large number of extremely repeatable "sample grabs." These are unaffected by any changes in pressure or viscosity, to accurately represent the average quality of the flowing fluid. (Jiskoot Autocontrol Ltd.)
