arrow Forecast/Review

This is our annual review of the past year and what lies ahead in 2003, now in its 77th year. Our statistics and analysis are gathered from proprietary surveys from states, governments and operators worldwide. These reports are used by oilfield professionals and government agencies worldwide:

Crude oil price analysis. A top choice among price analysts, Matthew Simmons of Simmons & Co. Int'l, tries to make sense of recent decisions, OPEC stamina, and the Iraq and Venezuelan wildcards.

Washington in 2002. As reported by World Oil's capital city correspondent, John McCaughey, crafting of U.S. energy policy by an all-republican led government should bring an interesting year, maybe even results.

E&P spending forecast. Salomon Smith Barney's surveys provide analysis and predictions for U.S., Canadian and worldwide upstream capital expenditures.

Canadian outlook. Calgary contributor Bob Curran provides his annual report on the past year and what activity looks like in the year ahead from the perspective of a Canadian insider.

U.S. drilling forecast. Our expert editorial team of Russell Wright, Bob Snyder and Perry Fischer will again labor hard into the night to produce an industry standard, World Oil's U.S. drilling forecast, complete with proprietary survey results, tables and charts.

Statistics and analysis of the U.S. rig count, oil production, and oil and gas reserves.

There will also be several unique features that agencies such as DOE and API, as well as DeGolyer and McNaughton depend on World Oil for, including U.S. producing oil wells and producing gas wells on a state-by-state basis.

Our popular drilling and producing depth records will reveal industry trends.

International drilling. Managing/International Editor Kurt Abraham scours government officials, oil company planners and others to glean a global drilling forecast for 2003.

The international section will offer early 2002 results and 2003 predictions for global offshore drilling, as well as data and analysis for world oil production rates.

arrow Petroleum Technology Digest

World Oil's regular monthly feature is published in association with the Petroleum Technology Transfer Council. The brief-yet-complete format features an article that gives practical information for increasing profits by solving technical problems in production.

arrow Completion Technology

Amerada Hess, in cased hole, and Repsol YPF Maxus, in open hole, have seen recent success with Halliburton's new expandable sand screen completion system. This article describes the benefits to operators through case examples.

Horizontal completions with sand control for steam assisted, heavy oil production. Case histories illustrate how PDVSA increased production 15% with the Schlumberger Oilfield Services' technology. Lessons learned are summarized.
