Drilling/completion fluids
CP Kelco is a new company formed by the combination of Copenhagen Pectin / Food Gums Division of Hercules Inc. and the Kelco Biopolymers group of Monsanto / Pharmacia Corp. It markets biopolymers for drilling, fracturing, workover, and completion fluids applications. The Xanthan formulated systems provide optimum viscosity characteristics under circulating conditions, yet regain structure when circulation ceases to provide suspension of drilled cuttings. The product’s key feature is its stability at temperatures up to 150°C in many freshwater and low-salinity drilling fluid systems. A brochure is available.
