Exxon Mobil Corp. named Jon L. Thompson president of ExxonMobil Exploration Co. and corporate VP. Steve M. Cassiani and John Cousins are now executive VPs. Morris E. Foster is president of ExxonMobil Development Co. Rex W. Tillerson was named executive VP of ExxonMobil Development Co. Stuart R. McGill was appointed president of ExxonMobil Gas Marketing Co. and corporate VP. K. Terry Koonce was appointed president of ExxonMobil Production and elected corporate VP. M. William (Bill) Scoggins is executive VP. Ansel L. Condray is chairman and production director of ExxonMobil International Ltd. Dan Mendell, III, was appointed president of Exxon Mobil Upstream Research Co. and continues as president of ExxonMobil Upstream Technical Computing Co.

Ultramar Diamond Shamrock Corp. elected Jean Gaulin chairman of the board. Roger Hemminghaus has elected early retirement.

Nalco / Exxon Energy Chemicals named Jack A. Shubert as president and CEO. Karen Minyard was named worldwide marketing manager for the Additives Group. Brent Diez was named division VP, manufacturing. Mark Bosanko was named operations senior VP.

Founders Energy Ltd. appointed Grant Billing senior executive officer with full responsibility for all activities. Randy Findlay was promoted to executive VP and COO.

Canadian 88 Energy Corp. appointed Dr. Soheil Asgarpour COO.

Francis Gugen, managing director of Amerada Hess Ltd., became UK Offshore Operators Association president. UKOOA elected an executive team of ten, double the number in previous years.

Deborah Rowell, founding executive director of the Petroleum Technology Transfer Council (PTTC) will step down from the position. She was responsible for opening the Washington, D.C. headquarters with its award-winning Internet website, and establishing ten regional resource centers and websites, combined with more than 100 technology workshops per year around the country and various newsletters, publications and products. She also initiated cooperative efforts with professional societies, industry associations and other groups to leverage PTTC’s resources.

Noble Drilling Corp. promoted William C. (Kurt) Hoffman to Western Hemisphere operations VP. Jimmy L. Puckett was appointed division manager of the Gulf Coast Marine operation. Bernie G. Wolford was appointed division manager of Brazil. William C. (Charlie) Yester will succeed Wolford as division manager of the Middle East region. William W. (Bill) Rhone was appointed director of materials management, succeeding the retiring Gerald W. Smith.

The Houston chapter of the Society of Independent Professional Earth Scientists (SIPES) elected Raymond N. Blackhall, chairman; C. Randall Schott, chairman-elect; Patrick J. Shannon, secretary and Larry L. Jones, treasurer. Jereld E. McQueen is past president. Deborah K. Sacrey and Craig Moore will continue as national directors.

Deaths
Long-time employee of Gulf Publishing Co., J. Virgil Durham, 60, passed away on Dec. 29, 1999. He was born March 23, 1939. Following graduation from the University of Houston, he served in the Active Marine Reserves from 1959–1963. He was employed with Gulf Publishing Co. from 1961–1986; and he was a life-time member of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo and a founding member of the Buck & Wing Cooking Team. WO
