WESTERN EUROPEGermanyNo license deals took place in the German offshore sector and no exploration or appraisal wells were drilled in German waters during 1999. During 1999, approval was granted for the A6/B4 development, the first in the western part of the offshore sector. The field is being developed via a manned steel platform, with export via new condensate and gas pipelines to the F03 platform in the Dutch sector. Production is expected to commence in the fourth quarter of 2000.
Oil production from the countrys two offshore producing fields reached a combined total of 5.8 million bbl. Mittelplate reached a peak daily average production rate of 13,200 bopd, while Schwedeneck See, which is expected to be abandoned this summer, continued to decline. Its current rate is 2,100 bopd.
