An equally shared venture owned by Bouygues Offshore and Saipem, SAIBOS CML, has obtained a $40 million contract to provide a turnkey rig and install a pipeline for Ranger Oil on the Espoir field. Ranger aims to drill an exploration well sometime this year. The Baobab prospect in the C1-40 block is the first of its kind in Cote d’Ivoire’s deep water.

Mondoil Corp. and Saur Energie will operate through a restructured company, Apache Cote d’Ivoire Petroleum, since Apache withdrew from direct participation in a $45-million deal involving Foxtrot, Cote d’Ivoire’s largest gas-condensate field.

According to the Direction des Hydrocarbures, the country’s gas production averages 82.5 MMcfd. A total of 564 sq mi of 3-D seismic is planned, and one offshore well is slated, for this year. WO
