Dr. Wolfgang Schollnberger, technology VP for BP Amoco, was named chairman of the management committee of The Oil Industry International Exploration and Production Forum and chairman of the board of directors of the Offshore Technology Conference. Both appointments are for two years.

Smith International, Inc., appointed John Kennedy president and CEO of the combined business as newly acquired assets from CONEMSCO, Inc., and CE Franklin Ltd. are merged.

Joining Vanco Energy’s staff are Robert J. "Bob" Banks, who will serve as operations manager for field development projects in West Africa and the Netherlands, and Dr. Gabor Tari as senior geophysicist.

Sonsub International BV named Aldo Gebbia as CEO. Bruce Gilman is now CEO of Sonsub International Inc.

George Lindahl III succeeds the retiring Jack Messman as chairman, president and CEO of Union Pacific Resources Group Inc.

Global Marine Inc.’s president and CEO Robert E. Rose was named chairman of the board, succeeding C. Russell Luigs, who will remain a director and was named chairman of the board’s executive committee.

The American Energy Group, Ltd., named Charles (Chuck) Valceschini as president and CEO of its subsidiary, Hycarbex-American Energy, Inc.

James D. Cole was elected chairman and John F. Lauletta became president and CEO of the new firm formed by the Tuboscope and Newpark Resources merger.

EDG, Inc. named Robert J. Starr to direct its construction management / inspection services division. David E. Beebe was named supervisor of computer services division and technical director of CADCO, Inc.

Italy’s oil and natural gas company, ENI, delegated all responsibility for international relations of strategic relevance to its chairman Renato Ruggiero. Vittorio Mincato was named CEO. AgipPetroli’s new chairman is Gilberto Callera, with managing directors Giorgio Clarizia and Pietro Franco Tali. EniChem’s chairman is Fabrizio D’Adda, with managing directors Carmine Cuomo and Piero Raffaelli. Eni International Holding’s chairman and managing director is Angelo Ferrari. Snam’s chairman is Salvatore Russo, with managing directors Domenico Dispenza and Giovanni DiStefano. Snamprogetti’s chairman is Luigi Patron, with managing director Maurizio Gatti, and Sofid’s chairman and managing director is Giuseppina Fusco.

Osca Ocean Technologies Ltd., a joint venture group between OSCA and the PSL Group, appointed Richard Hill president.

LICEnergy Group named Klaus Holse Andersen as CEO. Gene A. Hammons was appointed president and CEO of LICEnergy, Inc., based in Houston, Texas.

Henrique Bandeira Vieira was appointed chairman and CEO of Galp, the new energy company resulting from combining Petrogal and Gás de Portugal.

John Deane was promoted to president of Reed-Hycalog.

J. D. Dyess was named director of business development for Baker Petrolite Corp.

Stuart Tillman was appointed president and CEO of TriPoint Inc. David Henderson was promoted to sales and marketing manager. Phil McIntyre joined as sales representative for the Lafayette, Louisiana, region. Ken Peters is responsible for business development activities.

Frank Lott joined Reef Exploration, Inc., as executive VP of exploration.

Bettis Corp. named Philip R. Vaughan managing director of Bettis UK Ltd.

The Cameron Division of Cooper Cameron named Dennis McLaughlin as subsea systems director.

Mark Thatcher assumed the newly created title and role of executive VP and COO of ABB Vetco Gray.

Greg Rhodes joined Aker Maritime as sales and marketing manager in the business acquisition group. Aker Marine Contractors, Inc., promoted Peter Dove to chairman of the board. Don Hardin was appointed president.

Phillip P. Gennarelli became president of Charger Energy International, a newly created position in its new subsidiary.

UTS Corp. appointed Glen A. Tanaka COO.

Dr. Chris Fay succeeds the retiring Alan Binder as The Expro Group’s non-executive board chairman. Tony Kitchener was appointed VP, Americas.

Gaz de France named Pierre Cavalieros executive VP for North America. Paul Ollivary succeeds him as chairman and CEO of Sofregaz, the engineering subsidiary of the Gaz de France Group.

Joseph W. Sutton was promoted to vice chairman of Enron Corp.

Ned Frey joined Samson as exploration manager.

G. J. "Bud" Wilson joined Rocksource Energy Corp. as exploration and production VP.

Hydralift, Inc., appointed Greg Thory president. John Koos was promoted to VP, projects and engineering.

Coastal Oil & Gas Corp. promoted Gregory W. Hutson to senior VP. In the land department, John T. Elzner and Jon Nelson were elected VP, onshore and business development director, respectively. Steve Bloxom was elected senior VP of Coastal’s management subsidiary, Coastal States Management Corp.

Daniel C. Topolinsky joined Pinnacle Oil International, Inc., as president and COO. James R. Ehrets became executive VP of operations.

Santa Fe Snyder Corp. promoted Douglas C. Nester to VP, international exploration.

Wayne Curington joined Kvaerner Oilfield Products as VP systems solutions. Doug Horton became sales and marketing VP.

Jannik Lindbæk is acting chairman of Saga Petroleum’s board, following Wilhelm Wihelmsen’s resignation.

Following Corker Resources Inc.’s acquisition of TriQuest Energy, the new firm’s management team is Gordon J. Hoy, president and CEO; James R. Morrice, VP land; Bruce D. Gigg, VP, engineering and development and Richard K. Rathier, exploration VP.

Compagnie Générale de Géophysique (CGG) has appointed Robert Brunck president and CEO. He replaces Yves Lesage, who remains a director and has been nominated as honorary chairman. A restructured general management team includes Gérard Chambovet, senior exec. VP-Services; Thierry Le Roux, senior exec. VP-Equipment; and Michel Ponthus, senior exec. VP-Administration & Finance and general secretary. Services will be reorganized around three Strategic Business Units (SBU): Land SBU, in Massy, France, will be the responsibility of Bruno Delétang. Offshore SBU, also in Massy, will be headed by Christophe Pettenati-Auzière. Data Processing and Reservoir SBU in London will be the responsibility of Jean-François Arzel. A newly created Business & Technology Development Division will report to Eric Déliac. The Americas region in Houston will be the responsibility of Jean-François Marquaire. WO
