Newly elected officers to The Geophysical Society of Houston are Wendy Jones, editor; Lloyd R. Weathers, first VP; Philip L. Inderwiesen, treasurer; Patrick J. Starich, president; John R. Summer, president-elect; Scott Sechrist, second VP; and Katheryn Hardy, secretary.

Dave O’Reilly will succeed Ken Derr as Chevron’s chairman and CEO. Derr will retire in January after almost 40 years with Chevron, including 11 years as chairman and CEO. Peter Robertson was appointed president of Chevron Overseas Petroleum Inc., replacing Dick Matzke, who was elected vice chairman. Replacing Robertson as Chevron North America Exploration and Production president will be George Kirkland, current chairman and managing director of Chevron Nigeria Ltd.

International Oil & Gas Inc. appointed D. Cameron Stretch as president and director.

Bellwether Exploration elected J. P. Bryan chairman and CEO.

Texaco Chairman and CEO Peter I. Bijur was elected chairman of the board of directors of The Business Council of New York State, Inc. James F. Link was elected VP of Texaco Inc.

Osca, Inc., promoted Richard J. (Dick) Alario executive VP, responsible for global sales and marketing. Michael W. (Mike) Landry was promoted to Completions Fluids business unit VP. Steven J. "Steve" Brading joined as VP. Donald H. (Don) Michel joined as VP, downhole tools.

Mart Resources, Inc., appointed Vince Hamilton president and director of the company.

Don W. Niemiec was appointed Union Pacific Resources VP of marketing and corporate development, replacing the resigning V. Richard Eales.

Robert D. Getter became supervising engineer for Brown & Caldwell.

ABB Vetco Gray appointed Gary Shaw senior VP, international oil and gas projects. Allan Costlow was promoted to senior VP-western region operations. Stefan Radwanski transferred to Singapore as senior VP-Asia Pacific/Middle East.

Matthias F. Bichsel was named director of Shell’s Deepwater Services, headquartered in Houston.

Global Industries named Edgar G. Hotard president and COO. Drew Michel was named VP advanced technologies/business development.

Cabot Oil & Gas Corp. elected Robert R. McBride, Jr., VP and regional manager.

Richard D. "Rick" Fritz became executive director of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists.

TransCanada PipeLines Ltd. appointed Doug Baldwin president and CEO.

Genius Vos B.V./DNS Dutch Northsea Services appointed A. B. (Anton) Weekamp operations director.

Balmoral Group Ltd. appointed Kenneth Toole director of research.

Terry Jones joined EDG, Inc., as construction specialist.

FMC Energy Systems appointed John Hrncir marketing director for the petroleum equipment and systems divisions.

BJ Tubular Services appointed Doug Bell sales manager for Far East and Middle East regions.

Lawrence D. "Mike" Milligan was appointed president and CEO of Axel Johnson Inc.

Frank Coles joined Globe Wireless as managing director.

Alliance Engineering Inc. appointed Dan Dutherage director of business development. Gary W. Long was appointed VP.

Jan T. Jørgensen became Kværner’s executive VP, responsible for the firm’s worldwide oil and gas activities. Roberto Noce was appointed marketing manager.

NiSource environmental officer and counsel Arthur E. Smith, Jr., was appointed by Indiana Governor Frank O’Bannon to the Indiana Environmental Quality Service Council.

Sebastian "Seb" Patout was named sales and marketing manager at NOVA Technology. WO
