This second issue of World Oil's supplemental special report builds on the initial issue's (August 1997) introduction of basic concepts of the exciting new deepwater play. In this report, a central theme is the cooperative effort that U.S. and international operators have displayed in working among themselves, the service/supply sector and government agencies in meeting the complex technical, environmental and regulatory challenges. To that end, presentations herein contain discussions by the U.S. DOI's Minerals Management Service, Brazil's national oil company Petrobras, and the 21-company-sponsored DeepStar organization, in addition to features on key technology.
