LAGCOE prepares robust and diversified technical program for LAGCOE 2017


HOUSTON -- LAGCOE 2017 features a full agenda of presentations on innovative technological advances and business issues covering onshore and offshore operation, the midstream market and LNG. Presentation topics will range from information-intensive technical presentations to interactive panel discussions reviewing hot topics affecting the industry. 

The opening presentation will take place on Tuesday, October 24. “Fractured: How Language Deceives Us About Energy,” will be presented by Mark Mathis, founder/president, Clear Energy Alliance. Keynote presentations to follow will include:

On Tuesday, October 24, “BSEE’s Role in Fostering Secure and Reliable Energy Production from the Outer Continental Shelf” will be presented by Scott Angelle, director, Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE), Department of the Interior. Ryan Malone, projects general manager for Gulf of Mexico, BP, will also present on “A Fresh Look at the Gulf of Mexico: How Oil and Gas Companies Will Adapt to the New Environment.”

On Wednesday, October 25, “The Change of Energy in Washington, DC” will be presented by Randall Luthi, president, National Ocean Industries Association (NOIA).

On Thursday, October 26, LAGCOE 2017’s “LNG CEO Panel” will include Thomas H. Hudson, president, G2 LNG and Greg Vesey, president and CEO, Magnolia LNG. The session will be moderated by Chris John, president, Louisiana Mid-Continent Oil and Gas Association (LMOGA). Technical presentations on Tuesday, Oct. 24 kick off at 9:45 a.m. with, “AUV Pipeline Inspection - A Commercial Case Study,” Eric Fischer, Project Manager, Oceaneering. At 10:45 a.m., Blair Suire, Partner, Jones Walker LLP will present “Intellectual Property for Oil & Gas Companies.”

Following the two-part keynote presentation, Allen Fore, VP of Public Relations for Kinder Morgan will present a session focusing on the Midstream Market. At 2:30 p.m., John R. Dribus, Global Geology Advisor, Schlumberger will present, “Geologic Hazards Associated with Exploration in Deep Water and Around Salt Structures in the Gulf of Mexico.” Tuesday’s technical presentations wrap up with, “The Engineer’s Dilemma: Innovations versus Consistency,” presented by Clayton George, founder and principle engineer of Practical Engineering Solutions, LLC.

On Wednesday, October 25, at 1:15 p.m., the South Central Industrial Association (SCIA) will present, “Louisiana’s Maritime Legacy and the Current Industry Cycle,” featuring panelists Ben Bordelon, President & Chief Executive Officer, Bollinger Shipyards; Otto Candies, III, Vice Chair and Chief Operating Officer, Otto Candies Inc.; Robert Clemons, Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer, SEACOR Marine Holdings Inc. and moderated by Randall Luthi, president, National Ocean Industries Association (NOIA). Trey Miller, Global Sales Manager, NOV Devin will present at 2:30, “Challenges of Deepwater Intervention Operation and Benefits of Motion Compensation in the Gulf of Mexico.” Wednesday’s technical sessions will conclude with, “Increasing Employee Engagement & Empowerment Utilizing a Recurrent Risk Assessment Approach,” presented by Robert Sheninger, VP HSE and Regulatory Compliance, Talos Energy LLC.

The final technical presentation will be at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 26. W. R. "Rick" Farmer, P.E., Managing Member, Double R Engineering, LLC will speak on the, “Role of the Licensed Engineer in the Federal Waters of the OCS.”

LAGCOE 2017 presentation rooms will be located on the second level of the Cajundome Convention Center. It is free to attend all technical and international presentations.
