Hydrogen Sulfide ManagementMitigation options in petroleum refining, storage and transportation
Hydrogen sulfide (H2S) is a naturally occurring gas contained in many of the world’s crude oils, and also formed in the refining process by the degradation of sulfur-containing compounds in crude at high temperatures. New market demands are expanding hydrocarbon processing and the distribution infrastructure, and the average sulfur content of crude oils being processed in refineries continues to increase. This paper addresses solutions for H2S contamination including corrosion problems, odor concerns and product degradation.
