  • Impact of the Shale Revolution on Premium casing and tubing connections
  • Broadcast Date: 9 April, 2013
  • Brief Description: Abundant, profitable, and increasingly accessible, shale oil and gas have been hailed as “game changers” for countries looking to secure their energy independence. This demanding application exposes premium casing and tubing connections to high bending, torque, and fatigue loads during installation into extended lateral sections, plus high internal pressure and high tension during the multiple hydraulic fracturing stages. To answer these requirements Vallourec offers a full complement of Premium Threaded & Coupled and Semi-flush connections. To meet the future challenges of deeper wells and longer laterals, innovative high performance connections such as VAM ® SG, VAM® EDGE, and VAM® 21 HT have been developed. These developments should also provide a positive answer to the recent increases in regulations by delivering confidence in connection reliability

  • Evolution of requirements on casing connections for HPHT wells
  • Broadcast Date: 23 October, 2012
  • Brief Description: Casing and tubing premium connections performances are evaluated through standardized testing procedures, the main one being ISO13679 CAL-IV which was introduced in 2002. Since then, the requirements for evaluation and qualification of premium connections continued to evolve, particularly for HPHT applications. This evolution was considered in the development of innovative high performing connections such as VAM® 21 to meet these new expectations. This increased confidence in connection reliability open new possibilities for casing designs of demanding wells. Speakers for the event are Mr. Gabriel Briquet, Technical Sales Manager, Vallourec and Mr Antoine Caillard Well Design Engineer, Vallourec. Pramod Kulkarni, Editor of World Oil, will moderate.

  • Carbon Readiness Strategies for the US EPA’s new greenhouse gas emissions (GhG) standards
  • Broadcast Date: 19 November, 2009
  • Brief Description: Do you have a carbon readiness strategy? It’s no longer optional; the US EPA is regulating greenhouse gas emissions.  Carbon emission programs have grown rapidly in recent years. Under these programs, some companies that emit greenhouse gases (GhG) have already had to manage their carbon emissions so as to know how many emissions credits to buy or sell. However, a new regulation from the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will start regulating a larger population of facilities in the United States beginning in January 2010. While the EPA’s new mandatory GhG reporting rule will only require GhG reporting for affected facilities, successful implementation of this new rule will help companies better manage GhG issues going forward.
