  • Remedial Cementing Forum
  • Broadcast Date: 19 August, 2014
  • Brief Description: Remedial cementing procedures are required during the life of all wells. Remedial work is fundamentally different from “primary cementing.” Where primary cementing materials and techniques are used to seal and maintain casing or liners in a drilled hole, there are two categories of remedial cementing: squeeze cementing and plug cementing.

  • High Collapse Tubular, a Solution to Well Design Challenges
  • Broadcast Date: 8 July, 2014
  • Brief Description: Over the last years, the evolution of technical needs (such as HP/HT wells, annular pressure build-up, drilling through salt dome) leads OCTG customers to require tubular offering improved collapse resistance vs. the standard API one. Today, pipe collapse pressure is calculated in accordance with API 5C3 equations which are based on empirical approach. However these values do not always answer today to the new technical customer well design. That is why Vallourec has developed its own high collapse product lines, labeled VM HC or VM HCSS (for sour-services application), which offer collapse pressure exceeding in average by 30% the standard API collapse pressure. These high collapse products remain fully compliant with API standard. The higher collapse pressure is achieved thanks to specific manufacturing process and best-in-class quality control. This performance is determined and guaranteed by using Vallourec proprietary collapse model.

  • Accelerate Exploration Data Access With Flash Storage
  • Broadcast Date: 17 September, 2013
  • Brief Description: The evolution of computing hardware has delivered a new era of enhanced exploration productivity. New workflows are now computationally and economically feasible, and old ones can become much more efficient and deliver better results using more or higher-quality data. Just buying the latest hardware, however, rarely delivers the full potential of the latest technology advances. Many systems are designed and configured for generic workloads. Operating systems and file systems default and are configured for the limited capabilities of legacy hard disk drives. Furthermore, the rapid evolution in computing technologies—including more efficient multi-core processors and the application of GP-GPUs—has shifted workload bottlenecks to more time waiting on I/O to storage.

  • Installation process for premium connections, a key element for 'well integrity'
  • Broadcast Date: 16 July, 2013
  • Brief Description: The paradox of premium connections is that while they can seal high pressures, support extreme mechanical loads and endure severe hostile environments, they can be rendered ineffective by the slightest damage of a critical element such as a seal surface. The importance of careful handling of the pipe, thorough inspection of the connections at the rig and proper running procedures cannot be over emphasized. This webcast will explain the options available to the user to reduce their risk including selecting suppliers working in accordance to API Q2 specification. The requirement is that a premium connection design and flawless manufacturing are prerequisites to maintain the proven performance for the expected service life.

  • Impact of the Shale Revolution on Premium casing and tubing connections
  • Broadcast Date: 9 April, 2013
  • Brief Description: Abundant, profitable, and increasingly accessible, shale oil and gas have been hailed as “game changers” for countries looking to secure their energy independence. This demanding application exposes premium casing and tubing connections to high bending, torque, and fatigue loads during installation into extended lateral sections, plus high internal pressure and high tension during the multiple hydraulic fracturing stages. To answer these requirements Vallourec offers a full complement of Premium Threaded & Coupled and Semi-flush connections. To meet the future challenges of deeper wells and longer laterals, innovative high performance connections such as VAM ® SG, VAM® EDGE, and VAM® 21 HT have been developed. These developments should also provide a positive answer to the recent increases in regulations by delivering confidence in connection reliability

  • Carbon Readiness Strategies for the US EPA’s new greenhouse gas emissions (GhG) standards
  • Broadcast Date: 19 November, 2009
  • Brief Description: Do you have a carbon readiness strategy? It’s no longer optional; the US EPA is regulating greenhouse gas emissions.  Carbon emission programs have grown rapidly in recent years. Under these programs, some companies that emit greenhouse gases (GhG) have already had to manage their carbon emissions so as to know how many emissions credits to buy or sell. However, a new regulation from the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will start regulating a larger population of facilities in the United States beginning in January 2010. While the EPA’s new mandatory GhG reporting rule will only require GhG reporting for affected facilities, successful implementation of this new rule will help companies better manage GhG issues going forward.
