  • Giga-Cell Simulation, Visualization and Real Time Reservoir Monitoring
  • Broadcast Date: 7 September, 2010
  • Brief Description: GigaPOWERS™ reservoir simulator has achieved industry-leading billion-cell models, large enough to match reservoir performance and conduct future production forecasts within practical times with high accuracy. This presentation covers the journey of reservoir simulation technology from ten thousand to a billion cells. The presentation will include how the evolution of powerful computing and visualization technologies made it easy to construct and analyze billion cell reservoir models. The presentation will also cover the use of powerful visualization tools such as using hand gestures in model construction and use of sound to aid engineers in managing reservoirs in real time.

  • Smarter Oil & Gas
  • Broadcast Date: 28 April, 2010
  • Brief Description: Our industry is the most asset intensive in the world - by a factor of two. Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) can optimize business processes across the life cycle of all the assets within your enterprise. What application model, ERP vs. Best of Breed EAM, gives us the best opportunity for success to improve safety and reliability of our asset investments at lower risks and lower costs?Join Michael Roumaya, Global Mfg/Supply Chain Process Leader at Baker Hughes, William Ely, Global Industry Executive in EAM in Oil & Gas at IBM and Nell Benton, Associate Editor, WOrld Oil, as they discuss the decision considerations between ERP and Best of Breed EAM solutions, and collaborative models between the two, improving operational intelligence and driving smarter work, safer and more reliable operations of our industry's asset infrastructure. Nell Benton, World Oil Associate Editor, will moderate the discussion.

  • Carbon Readiness Strategies for the US EPA’s new greenhouse gas emissions (GhG) standards
  • Broadcast Date: 19 November, 2009
  • Brief Description: Do you have a carbon readiness strategy? It’s no longer optional; the US EPA is regulating greenhouse gas emissions.  Carbon emission programs have grown rapidly in recent years. Under these programs, some companies that emit greenhouse gases (GhG) have already had to manage their carbon emissions so as to know how many emissions credits to buy or sell. However, a new regulation from the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will start regulating a larger population of facilities in the United States beginning in January 2010. While the EPA’s new mandatory GhG reporting rule will only require GhG reporting for affected facilities, successful implementation of this new rule will help companies better manage GhG issues going forward.
