World Oil Awards Winners Announced

Fifteen Winning Companies Receive Top Honors at Global Petroleum Event

HOUSTON, TEXAS – 15 October 2010 - World Oil® magazine announced the fifteen winners of the 2010 World Oil Awards at the ninth annual black-tie gala dinner last night in Houston, Texas. The event, attended by close to 300 industry leaders, benefited a university that offers a program leading to careers in the petroleum industry.

Dr. Ali Dogru of Saudi Aramco won the Innovative Thinkers Award for his forward thinking and his involvement in the game changing technology, GIGAPowers™.  Baker Hughes Incorporated was recognized in the Best Drilling Technology award for their Steerable Drilling Liner (SDL) which combines the advantages of rotary steerable drilling technology with the liner drilling method. Boots & Coots, A Halliburton Service won the award for Best Completion Technology Award for its PowerReach™ System provides the ability to perform well stimulation and remedial operations in long horizontal wellbores without the limitations of small OD coiled tubing units. Both Baker Hughes Incorporated and Weatherford International walked away with the Best Deepwater Technology Award for the first time there was an undeniable tie.  Baker Hughes for their SureFlo™ 298Ex Fullbore Downhole Flow Meter and Weatherford for the Model 7875 Below Tension Ring Rotating Control Device.  Schlumberger was awarded the New Horizons Idea Award for the Ocean Software Development Framework which accelerates the development and deployment of innovative software solutions.
