PREPARING AND SUBMITTING ARTICLES
WORLD OIL avoids individual footnotes, preferring to group numbered references at the end of the article. All such references should use superscripts, like this.24
Because it frequently is mechanically impossible to place tables or drawings immediately adjacent to the text referring to them, never use the expression "see following Figure" or see Table below." Instead, use the expression "see Fig. 1" or "see Table 1". All drawings and tables should be attached as addenda to the back of the manuscript, rather than interspersing them through the manuscript. Proper placement will be handled by WORLD OIL in the final layout.
Both text and art may be submitted electronically, either via e-mail or saved on a memory stick or on our FTP site.
Art should be submitted separately from text and should not be imbedded in the word processing document. WORLD OIL prefers art files created and saved in Adobe Photoshop or Adobe Illustrator. We can also handle Aldus Freehand files. Illustrations that were not produced using these programs should be submitted as EPS files whenever possible. TIFF and PICT files are also workable, but are the least desirable. Photographs should be submitted in sizes larger than they would appear in print and at resolutions of at least 300 dpi.
Articles may be submitted via e-mail to email@example.com.
Right to Edit Copy
WORLD OIL must reserve the right to edit copy. Authors will always be advised of major changes. We will not be offended when an author does not wish to accede to our revisions. On the other hand, we hope no author will be offended should WORLD OIL not be able to publish the article without the revisions suggested by us.
