Danos awarded contract for Hess Stampede platform

GRAY, Louisiana -- Danos has secured a contract to perform mechanical hook-up and commissioning (HUC) support services for the Hess Stampede tension leg platform (TLP) in the Gulf of Mexico. The Stampede deepwater oil and gas field (located approximately 115 mi south of Fourchon, La.) is one of the largest undeveloped fields in the Gulf of Mexico, with estimated gross recoverable reserves in the range of 300 MMboe to 350 MMboe.

As part of the contract, more than 100 Danos employees will be working on the project across multiple locations over the next 12 months. A small project management team is in Houston planning the offshore scope and execution. They are working closely with other delivery areas to ensure a safe and successful facility start-up. Currently, Stampede is in the integration and commissioning phase. Once complete, the platform will be towed to its final destination where Danos will be supporting the hook-up and commissioning phases of the project.

Danos will be providing support via several of its service lines, including project management, construction, scaffolding and coatings services. The company has successfully performed similar work for another recent deepwater platform in the Gulf of Mexico and has partnered with Hess on other offshore projects.
