U.S. operators add twelve oil rigs in Permian basin
HOUSTON -- Operators in the U.S. put 12 more oil rigs in the field this week, according to the latest data from Baker Hughes.
The Permian basin, which saw 12 rigs added for a new total of 258, is now home to more than half of the nation’s 510 active oil rigs.
While the number of active oil rigs is still lower than this time last year, when 541 were reported, the count represents a significant improvement from the 316 reported in the last week of May.
The number of rigs seeking gas rose one to 126, while miscellaneous rigs held steady at one for a combined total of 637 active rigs.
