Chesapeake Energy cleared in Federal Securities Investigation

JOE CARROLL

OKLAHOMA CITY, Oklahoma (Bloomberg) -- Chesapeake Energy, the U.S. natural gas driller that fired its founder last year amid an investor revolt, said it was cleared by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in a securities and shareholder probe.

The commission’s Fort Worth, Texas, office informed Chesapeake in an April 8 letter that the investigation had concluded and no enforcement action would be recommended to SEC headquarters, Chesapeake Energy said in a regulatory filing.
