Marine Cybernetics to perform system testing on Petrobras MODUs

RIO DE JANEIRO -- Marine Cybernetics recently signed its first contract for the delivery of hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing to a total of six newbuild mobile drilling units (MODU), to be hired by Petrobras in Brazil. Petrobras has introduced a requirement for independent testing (including HIL testing) of software and control systems on all newbuild drilling rigs to be used in Brazil.

HIL testing is a proven method that is used in many other industries, including aviation, but Marine Cybernetics was the first to offer the use of HIL testing in the oil/offshore and maritime industry.

Marine Cybernetics was established in 2002, with headquarters in Trondheim, Norway. The company performs independent HIL testing, which can help ensure software system security, on various vessels and offshore installations, based on the use of proprietary test technology. In addition to the headquarters, the company has subsidiaries in Houston and Rio de Janeiro.
