POGC announces IOOC plans to drill 17 wells

Iranian Offshore Oil Company (IOOC) says 17 wells will be drilled in Persian gulf waters with the aim of identifying new hydrocarbon reserves.

IOOC had two packages of drilling in the agenda to appraise the situation of oil and gas fields located in the Persian gulf. Drilling would be carried out not only in existing operational fields but also in those fields their development had not been started yet.

According to Gharibihayat the company has signed a head of agreements with Petro Iran on drilling 12 wells while a private company, that its name was not disclosed, will be in charge of drilling another 5 wells. ‘Before starting drilling a lot of information has been gathered on hydrocarbon reserves in the Persian gulf through conducting three dimensional seismic operations and our drilling program is based on those information.
