Glacier Energy Services appoints new director to Wellclad division

HOUSTON -- Glacier Energy Services has appointed highly experienced energy sector and international logistics business senior executive George Leggate as director of its Wellclad weld overlay technology operation.

Mr. Leggate, 43, has more than 20 years' experience across oil and gas equipment manufacturing and global project management, as well as business process outsourcing and global customer service operations.

He rejoins the business as director for Wellclad, having founded the company in 1997.

Wellclad was one of the first companies in Europe to develop weld overlay as a routine process for the "cladding" of alloy steels with corrosion resistant alloys, designed to improve the integrity of critical oil and gas production components.

Glacier Energy Services' combined business operations has a turnover of more than £10million following its formation in 2011, with 60 staff working across the UK and international markets from its operational bases in Aberdeen, Glasgow and Newcastle.

Dave Sturrock, CEO of Glacier Energy Services, says Mr. Leggate's track record in the leadership of diverse, results-orientated global teams, driving growth and profitability of blue chip, multi-site, multi-regional accounts is a major asset.

"George has significant, detailed knowledge of the business as one of its founders, and the kind of industry experience vital to ensuring our operations continue to grow and prosper," says Mr. Sturrock.

"After spending 10 years in business process outsourcing for international blue chip companies, George has returned to Wellclad and we are very pleased to have him back in the company, as we target even greater growth across a growing global client base."

Mr. Leggate will work across Glacier Energy Services' bases in Aberdeen; Glasgow; and on Tyneside.

"Glacier is taking the Wellclad, Roberts and Site Machining Services brands into a major phase of international growth and returning to the Oil & Gas sector to work with an exciting and progressive management team was an easy decision to make," he says.

Glacier Energy Services is backed by private equity providers Maven Capital Partners and the Simmons Parallel Energy Fund, and recently relocated to bespoke premises at Clyde Gateway East, Glasgow, which was opened by Energy Minister Fergus Ewing.
