Fugro partnered with the Colombian Maritime Authority (Dimar) for a seep hunting study in the Caribbean Sea, which will help to assess the country’s resource potential. The study involved shallow water seabed sediment coring, geochemical analyses, and seabed heat flow measurements. The company provided classroom and vessel-based training to Dimar personnel. The field program reportedly was conducted in two phases, onboard Dimar’s new multi-purpose hydrographic vessel, the ARC Roncador. Fugro mobilized specialized equipment for the testing, including two self-contained laboratories and a heat flow probe.
Airborne Oil & Gas has secured a 10-km thermoplastic composite pipe (TCP) flowline contract with a major operator in West Africa. According to the company, this is its most significant flowlines contract to date. The contract award follows an earlier successful delivery of a 4-km product. The company will produce the 10-km TCP flowline to support the operator’s brownfield, tie-back development project in the same field.
Ashtead Technology has completed subsea installation monitoring work to support the Northern Lights Carbon Capture Storage (CCS) project in the North Sea. Developed by Equinor, in partnership with Shell and Total, the project reportedly is the first of its kind in the region. It aims to collect and transmit CO2 from onshore sources and store it under the seabed. Using its Deflection Monitoring System (DMS), Ashtead monitored the installation of an integrated satellite structure. Oceaneering International, Inc., has secured a riser-less light well intervention contract from BP. The contract award will see the provision of comprehensive riserless light well intervention (RLWI) services offshore Angola, in Blocks 18 and 31. Oceaneering also will provide personnel and equipment related to its RLWI services, ROVs, survey services and communication services integrated onto a chartered multi-purpose vessel. Its work scope also will include project management, engineering, systems integration, offshore management and project crews.
CNOOC Limited has commenced production at Bozhong 34-9 oil field, in the southern Bohai Sea. The field is expected to reach its peak production of approximately 22,500 bopd in 2022. It will see the development of about 57 producing wells, including 38 production wells and 19 water injection wells.
Forum Energy Technologies has been awarded a contract from Amundsen Science (Université Laval, Canada) for the provision of a light work-class ROV. The ROV will be installed onboard the Canadian research icebreaker CCGS Amundsen and will support the exploration of Arctic and Sub-Arctic seafloor ecosystems. It was selected, due to its high thrust-to-drag ratio, enabling it to operate in strong currents. It is equipped to a high specification, with two seven-function manipulator arms for complex underwater procedures. Gulfstream Services, Inc., has expanded its business in the U.S. with a new location in Midland, Texas; an expanded facility in Houma, La.; and new office space in Houston, Texas. The new 60,000-ft2, 14-acre facility in Houma supports growth in the Gulf of Mexico, enabling all offshore products and services to be based in a single location. Likewise, the new Midland facility supports the company’s customers in North America’s most prolific basin.
Interventek has secured a multi-million-pound contract for the provision of three 7.375-in., 10,000-psi in-riser landing string completion systems for an international OEM client. With this, as well as several other recent contract wins, the company has relocated its business to a larger facility in Aberdeen. The new premises feature 20,000 ft2 of office and workshop space, as well as additional yard space.
The International Association of Oil & Gas Producers (IOGP), the American Petroleum Institute (API) and the Asociación Mexicana de Empresas de Hidrocarburos (AMEXHI) have signed an MOU to formalize a mutual agreement to strengthen their working relationship, as well as joint efforts to help advance operational performance across North America. The agreement will allow the three associations to coordinate joint forums on specific issues, as well as technical workshops on topics including EOR, offshore safety, digital oil fields or hydraulic fracturing. They also can share best practices on environmental performance, emergency response and other various areas relating to oil and gas operations.
ION Geophysical Corp. has entered a multi-client agreement with Colombia’s National Hydrocarbon Agency (ANH) that will see the reprocessing of existing data, as well as the acquisition of new 2D and 3D multi-client programs offshore the country’s Caribbean coast. The agreement follows ANH’s February announcement, disclosing a series of reforms aimed at encouraging investment in E&P, including a permanent licensing round and a more attractive tax regime. This reportedly will help to boost the region’s declining production and increase reserves.
Swire Oilfield Services has partnered with Global Oilfield Services Inc., wholly owned by Guyanese shareholders, for the supply of offshore containers and equipment in support of Guyana’s growing energy market. Under terms of the agreement, a full range of Swire’s DNV 2.7-1 certified units will be offered, including offshore containers, baskets, waste skips and tanks.
Wood has secured a two-year extension to its in-Kingdom and out-of-Kingdom contracts with Aramco Overseas Company BV (AOC), a Saudi Aramco subsidiary, for its unconventional gas program. The contract award reportedly is an extension of one that had originally been secured in 2014. Wood says its project execution teams will continue to work closely with Saudi Aramco to develop new engineering design and implementation strategies to deliver the program’s primary objective, which is to produce significant volumes of gas from shale and tight gas reservoirs.
